Welcome back Wayne
So, the G7 have agreed that a minimum of 15% corporate tax and to ensure that taxation is paid in the countries where money is made. This is long overdue, but will unfortunately hit certain countries particularly hard.......

Why? If the tax is the same everywhere there is no point moving your offices from, say, Dublin to Frankfurt with all of the associated costs.

The ‘associated costs’ are peanuts. It’s a bit like trying to get the best football manager to come to Merseyside when London or Madrid come calling...... Luxembourg will certainly take a hit......

It's a minimum, and many countries, including the UK, have higher rates than that. Can we expect our own corporate tax rate to fall as a result of this? I thought the biggest problem wasn't that companies have low tax rates but that companies avoid tax by moving income around to the lowest jurisdiction via internal shenanigans? After all, as this document shows, the trade in things like licensing and IP rights is growing far faster than in actual goods and services.

All this is likely to do is continue the trend we've seen over the past 20 years of ever lower corporate tax rates around the world. If this is being billed as a way to sock it to companies it's a funny way of showing it

UK had to agree to this tech Tax and rate otherwise as our exports to the US worth $887m a year were to be saddled with levies of 25 per cent. And USA have immediately imposed this but suspended tariffs for 6 months. The goods to be targeted include perfumes, make-up, clothes, jewellery and video games. Of the six countries targeted we would have been worst hit. As widely reported outside the UK media...

It was reported in the papers here and on the BBC, not sure what your point is.

Way down last the headlines of front pages, the only place I've seen it is FT in obvious terms and that's pay walled. Still putting aside sycophantic love in with partial media. We danced to the tune of the Smith and Wesson, not so sovereign empowering.

Wonder how many people will show up in Cornwall with pitchforks protesting next weekend.
According to my mate who lives there (yes, he’s a Kopite...) they’ve closed the roads to stop protesters entering the county. Given that other than Covid the main topic of discussion will be environmental issues, Biden having his presidential helicopter flown in by transport is sure to inspire us all to tread the Green path.

Think Johnson arrived by jet as well.
