Piijt

Player Valuation: £20m
A few months ago we had threads screaming for us to be bought by billionaires no matter where they originated from. Curiously, a few months down the line it's all gone quiet with no buyers knocking at the RS door ... or any other football clubs either.

The world economy is screwed, we all know this but maybe it isn't common knowledge that the Dubai economy is now totally ****ed, DIC are totally out of the frame. Abu Dhabi will be bailing Sheik Mahktoum out soon (his investments have cratered) to prevent a massive collapse with a power shift as a consequence. So who else apart from a couple of Russian Oligarches has the money to invest? The Russians and Arabs have also lost a fortune, their money was invested in the collapsing markets.
Realisticallly just who would invest in Everton. Our ground sadly can't cope with the corporate requirements, we seriously need to do something and fast.

Looks like we will be with Bill for a fair while yet, me I'm happy about that (more bad rep expected)

Aren't the UAE 'bailing out' Dubai in the sense they're providing the credit Dubai are no longer able to secure elsewhere in order to continue with their investment programme? You're talking tens of Billions of pounds here, so the figures involved in Premier League club takeovers shouldn't be a problem for any of the emirate states if clubs' owners are realistic in their valuations. That's the message coming out of the negotiations with the Kuwaiti consortium and Liverpool FC, who also have another couple of interested parties chasing them, and West Ham United who have five different suitors looking to pick up a bargain.

The takeover train has a lot of track still left in front of it.

Couldn't have picked a worse time to post that seeing as though it was only yesterday that news surfaced regarding a takeover of the RS by the Kuwaiti gadgys

It isn't going to happen though. Seriously, new investment will not happen until the financial situation is sorted out. All the news and rumours surfacing are just conjecture. No actual facts are being presented.

In the short term that theory will be put to the test with what's happening at West Ham. The club's parent Icelandic company is today looking to secure a final three month extension on its debts to avoid going into administration. WHU are one of its few assets left and they have to demonstrate a sale of the club is progressing. There's supposed to be interest despite the club being loaded with debt itself, so it'll be interesting to find out how much they are sold for and what sort of plan the new owners have re expansion.

Does that mean if there is no buyer, WHU could fold and be no more?

They could be sold off cheaply and quickly if administrators get their hands on it - trying to claw back monies for creditors owed by the parent company (Hansa). Player sales would follow, you'd imagine. Going into administration will also see them get a points deduction next season.

Not good - especially when they still have the Tevez affair hanging over them.

As I say, it'll be interesting to see how the market acts in such circumstances.
