Ok, the rules on this one are you have to post two versions of the same song. The key here is you have to like both versions. I'll get us started...from two acts I like a lot, MGMT (the original) and Jonsi (the cover). As you can see the MGMT version is the full on version, whereas Jonsi strips it down to a lovely little piano/vocals version. After hearing the cover (where the lyrics are more front and center), I actually appreciate the original more.

Nice idea.

Two acts that I love. Smog and Cat Power.

The original is typical Bill Callahan - deadpan vocals and sparse, staccato instrumentation.

The cover by the lovely Cat Power pretty much sums her up. Ultra lo-fi, stripped back, delicate and magical. Seemingly always on the verge of collapsing into chaos - and if you've been lucky enough to see her earlier live shows you'd know that can often happen. One of the few covers that I genuinely prefer to the original.

Two fantastic bands, two of the best drummers ever. Really hard decision here, but I think I like the original slightly better.

Just looked all over youtube for it but every video labeled "muse-creep" was really Radiohead's acoustic version of the song.
 

Ok here's two more from me. Not the world's biggest Oasis fan, but this was their best moment IMO. Then Ryan Adams went and improved on genius.

I only found out this was a cover quite recently when I heard the original somewhere and got really confused...

Jay-z is so bad. He's off key plus notice how he stops playing the guitar half way through yet you hear no difference in the music. Here's Oasis's response
