More so in the case of maupay, but do you disagree that he wasn’t bought as the back up? Based off everything Lampard was saying about Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.

I don’t understand why you’d spend £15m on a backup to be honest with you. And I also don’t understand why you’d rely on a crock to stay fit for the whole season and then cry when the fella you bought for £15m to sit on the bench behind him actually has to play football matches. I put the blame squarely at Thelwell’s door however if Lampard honestly did have any say in the matter then he should be sacked on the spot for that alone.
