In danger of pinning it all on another transfer window. The last one worked great defensively. But for what feels like decades now, if we buy a good forward/creative player, they mostly suddenly turn crap (apart from Rom). If we get “the next Rooney” from the academy, as soon as there is any hype they turn crap. If we buy uninteresting or budget players, they stay crap and we don’t improve them.
I don’t know why it bothered me so much but I only saw Lallana’s assist this morning. Bought himself some space with great awareness of the defender and delivered a beautiful pass. Brilliant. Goal entirely down to him.
If we were linked with him we’d burn down the ground. And yet if we did buy him, there is no way he would produce anything like that assist for us. And neither would peak Zidane.
Managing this club is literally impossible. Even more so when half the squad is always injured and we get 4% of VAR calls. Let him stay until he hates it.
