A confident manager will look at this club, see the toxic atmosphere, realise how wide the abyss between the board and the club is, how small the amount of money to address the alarming unbalance in the squad is and realise that it would be career suicide to take on this job.
A mediocre manager may take on the job. He would, however, be no more capable of stopping the rot than Lampard is.
Yesterday it was obvious that Lampard has to go.
Southampton deserved the win - and without Pickford could have scored more.
The board neeed to grow a pair and get someone else in.
Even Allardyce could set up a team to play to their strengths - especially at home and we'd generally look the better team as we at least constructed some goal threats. Yesterday was another game where we looked like the away team. 5 mins to go - 1-2 down to the bottom of the table - and our defenders are fannying about passing it backwards in our own half.
If you cannot harness the Goodison energy then there is no hope for you.
But - whoever comes in - I'm sick of these players - our standard is so low it's embarrassing. Get rid and bring people in - or play the kids - and at least have a go.
Otherwise we'll still see these dreadful performances - as we have all season - and slide into the championship without a murmur.

I wanted Eddie Howe! I initially was against Lampard but like Silva before him, once I saw them in their first media interviews I backed them.
Anyway Lampard nice'n'all but it's a results business, 3 wins all season. Yes there's 19 games remaining, but I don't see us winning even 1 more at the moment.
Kept Quiet on this mostly, so here is my take on it all. We have 18 games left and can survive relegation. Forget the board matters until that is achieved. These players were grinding out draws at the begining of the season and now it's gone tits up. Even without a striker we were hard to beat and goals conceded was up there with some of the top teams. The team is not being managed properly and that needs to change. A couple of forwards and a new manager and tactics keeps us up. That is all that matters at this moment in time. Don't quote me and expect a reply cos I am hitting the box wine now xxx
