Don’t know if it’s been mentioned on here, but I was talking to a lad this morning who went the match on Saturday. He said what was different and noticeable was the pre match warm up. Lampard was hands-on and the preparation seemed a lot more focussed and intense than under Rafael. He felt this contributed to the higher intensity level in the game. Did anyone else pick this up?

I liked seeing Lampard on the pitch before the match, I hope it's something we continue to see. He has a hands on approach and he seems have his eye on everything.

I find it quite confusing that fans who didn't necessarily want Rafael here but decided to support him for as long as was feasible are getting slated?

The inability of the players to show any consistency under a manager like Ancellotti should have at least indicated that there was a bigger problem at hand than just how the manager sets them up. Rafael at the very least will hopefully make them realise how lucky they are to be footballers and to have had managers who will be tolerant of them....

Lampard is not stupid. He will know quite clearly that effort levels were not good enough under Rafael and other managers - he is getting them on side and working on the "build up confidence" approach. In the back of his mind he knows this group of players will throw him under the bus when the going gets tough for them.

There is no doubt in my mind he is weighing them up and the usual suspects in the team will be on their toes for the time being.... I think he is smart enough to spot the signs of a team putting their slippers on - it will happen. Just wait.

Don't want to go overboard on this but I agree. Seeing Lampard out during the warm-up surely had an effect on players and fans alike but the content of the warm up was noticeably different too, lots more passing drills, 1-2's etc. Very encouraging to see.

The thing that might give him false confidence is Europe is completely out of the picture now and once we are away from relegation they may well but a very impressive run together as we have notoriously done when there is no pressure of achieving anything.

He might get a shock next season when the pressure is on.

They aren’t. Think you have them confused with a different category of “fan” here.

Yeah there's that. But I think we are too good of quality to go down. Even with a dodgey defence. We could be clear with a load of games to go and they will be pointless games. Ones they thrive in. I hope he doesn't get over confident into next season over it. And factors that in.

Assuming we stay up then I hope someone sits Moshiri down and has a word with him about expectations for next season. Even if we keep hold of Richy and DCL, the team will need significant investment in the midfield and CB areas to stand a chance of pushing for Europe. Ideally we could do with a good backup striker to push DCL as well. If that can’t be done this summer due to financial rules then people shouldn’t get too worked up if we’re floating about 10th or 11th next season imo.

I’d say Derby is a ‘free hit’ with what Rooney is doing there. We’re nowhere near relegation certainties. If Lampard gets us relegated this season then it will heavily affect his reputation. I’d say we’re far from a free hit.
