Yes and we were missing players who were of better quality than those we had on the pitch. I know there are some stats for Everton that when Lukaku plays you win a huge percentage of games compared to when he doesn't. We have the same kind of stats for Matty James, he and Drinkwater are so important to how we usually play. With James being the physical presence, breaking up play and allowing Drinkwater to push forward and be our play maker. Those two have played together since they were 13/14 at United and work so well together. From 40 minutes onwards our midfield had 3 players in it that would probably never even get on the pitch.

To be perfectly honest it really doesn't matter how we play against the likes of yourselves and the other top 5 or 6. It's what we do against the bottom 10 that will dictate our season, it might work in our favour to now have so many top teams at the start of the season and having injuries now. Hopefully the 4/5 of the ones missing will be back when we play the teams we need to beat, plus I'd imagine we still have another three players to come in fairly soon as we're short on numbers.

Thought you played better after he went off actually.

Sorry but if people want to keep slating this awful leicester side that fairly comfortably drew to you then let's have some parity. I expect this attitude from United or Liverpool fans but I thought Everton fans would be a bit more grounded

That doesn't mean your sides not awful ffs

Cardiff beat City last season on the opening weekend, Guess what? There team was crap and was relegated, they also had a better standard of player than your hoof ball outfit

I've never seen a worse team than the one we played against yesterday. Proper hoof it and hope football with Jan Koller's reserve upfront. Can see Leicester scoring 80% of their goals from a knock down off a goal kick. Even Stoke have stopped playing like that.
I think this is a bit unfair on Leicester actually. They found a weakness in our defence and focussed their attacks on that weakness - I don't think that's enough to accuse them of being worse than Stoke. Yes they sat back and defended in numbers, waiting to hit us on the break.... but they also came at us when they were a goal down and got their equaliser. Twice.

The fuming should be directed at the likes of Stones and Jags, who dealt so poorly with Leicester's attacking play, or at the players who faded dramatically on about 60 minutes (Lukaku, McGeady, Barry), or at RM for not making the substitutions earlier and going for the killer blow when we were 2-1 up. Not at Leicester, who by and large were industrious and honest.

Think people are more annoyed with the other numpty rather than looking to attack Leicester mate - you did okay yesterday no denying it and you seem like a sound lid so just check the fume a bit ;)

And if you're team can't deal with awful hoof ball teams then it's gonna be a long time until you reach your aim of Champions league

Just seems like you think you've been playing attractive football every year in the prem. You are a very good side but I think you could be a bit more humble when a lesser side puts up a good fight against you

Nobody thinks that

Getting lectured by a Leicester fan on our team set up, after they spawned a lucky undeserved equalizer against us.... FFS.

Really hope this guy sticks around for the season, though I suspect he'll have disappeared by December once their relegation battle is established.
I've seen this a few times that our goals were lucky. Yes, you had two cracking finishes, but are you forgetting how the ball found it's way to those players? With the ball deflecting into your players paths, or corners that never were, or players falling on their arse and fluking a ball to a team mate.

At the end of the day, both teams created very little in terms of clear cut chances, we both had a bit of fortune with the ball bouncing around off other players, and we both stuck a couple away.

The stats back up that you created no more than us chance wise, so I think you are pushing it to say undeserved as you did nothing with all the extra ball you had.

I've been on this forum quite a lot over the years (my bother and I have followed Everton from afar since we were kids and Gary left us for you), it's sad to see so many people becoming "big time charlie", I never had Everton fans down as that type of fan. Sadly I think it's happening more and more at all premier league clubs these days. The landscape certainly seems to have changed since we were last here 10 years ago.

Well we seemed to mange quite well last season didn't we?

You came on here last week banging on about the way your team played football and how your lot would surprise a few people, Well guess what it did, It shocked everyone how often the ball was in orbit

I think in general, most on here have been ok in their opinion of your side. No entitlement that some PL sides have.

The view, I think, was that we dominated the 1st half, could/should have wrapped the game up. Didnt. You showed great quality in coming back. I have said numerous times, your manager made a change at HT, maybe enforced with Drinkwater going off, which worked.

But you were not a frightening football team. Pacey, yeah, organised, yeah, but limited. As both your goals kind of summed up.

Bu you will be fine. Maybe.

20th - QPR - Worst top 6 side in the championship last season.
19th -Burnley - Hard working like ourselves, but lack our quality.
20th - 4/5 other sides including us.
Who are the other four you think will be battling it out with yourselves and do you think QPR and Burnley fans will agree with your assessment of their chances?

Ok I'm going to leave it and let you think what you want as I don't intend to annoy anybody but what I would suggest is not labelling a club on 1 game based on your own disappointment

Survival is key for us. Maybe we'll start playing your brand of football when we are more established in this league

You will but no matter the result we'll be [Poor language removed] crap again according to you lot. If we were that bad why didn't your superior team win?
Listen lad

For the most part the majority on here have agreed that it was a fair result yesterday when all things considered.

Both teams on a whole were quite poor. Both were average.

But yes, I do think your team is awful. Thats my opinion. Good result yesterday for you, nice one, good start. I still think your team is wank, but thats just me. Football is football, it happens. The 38 games seperate the good to the wank. See you GP mate.
