Pritt Stick?
dear oh dear...I remember when we followed beating Chelsea for the first time in 10 years with a convincing win against Man Utd back in the Spring of 2010. We all thought we could have been top 4 if it wasn't for yet another terrible start to the season. But we felt optimistic we'd be challenging the season after. Even Moyes did:
"it's our best squad since the 80's".
Alas...yet another terrible start to the season put paid to that.
Ambitions for top 4 this season? Alas...yet another terrible start to the season put paid to that.
At least we're too good for a relegation scare (he says). If we really want to qualify for Europe again we seriously (seriously!) have to improve how we start the season. Unbelievable that Moyes still hasn't cracked this. Our terrible starts to seasons are as much a reason for our losing ground to the big boys as our lack of finances.
Sort it out, for frak's sake.
I predict 8th for this season (happy with that considering how dire we've been).
Next season we'll win all but two of our games before Christmas, then we'll get 12 points from the last half of the season. Nailed on.
and the chairmans inputI think Newcastle will pip us to 7th tbh based on what I've seen this year. If we really take off though we'll get it. Also if Liverpool completely and utterly collapse (which they probably won't) AND we have a run resembling the one we got in late 2007 winning 6 games on the bounce, 15 unbeaten etc then we can get 6th off them. If we get 6th then it'll be an achievement akin to the 4th place in 05 in my opinion. Would be truly astonishing given the circumstances at the start of the campaign.
9th for me. Newcastle are too far ahead and the Spurs game was an anomaly. Sunderland are level but playing far better football.
