Daniel Embid

Daniel Embid.webp

Daniel Embid joins Fylde on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. Embid is a promising midfield prospect for Spurs and the club were happy for him to further his development under Duncan Ferguson and playing League One football with Fylde. The Spanish midfielder had an unsuccessful spell at Hearts last season and will be hoping to put that right this season with The Coasters.

Victor Oto'o

Oto'o.webp

Oto'o spent the last season on loan with Fylde in The Championship and played backup to Vince Bytheway on the right. Oto'o came in for criticism in his last appearance against Bolton Wanderers and fans have mixed opinions on the winger but after Arsenal decided they wasn't going to renew his contract, Ferguson stepped in and signed the winger on a two year deal. Oto'o stated he wants to win the fans over and will leave it all on the pitch for Fylde.

John Jones

John Jones.webp

An academy graduate of Leicester City, Jones has experience playing football at lower league level with Portsmouth and Charlton in League One and Sheffield Wednesday in The Championship. He is still to make his breakthrough for Leicester City and under the guidance of Ferguson it could become a reality next season.

Josh Maja

Josh Maja.webp

Josh Maja requires no introduction. He has spent his career at Sunderland and Nottingham Forest making 406 career appearances and netting 84 goals. His return for Forest has not what they wanted it to be over recent seasons and rather than sell the striker they loaned him out for the season to Fylde. A good option in attack for Ferguson since Barry Sargent departed for Swindon Town.

Sam Gibson

Sam Gibson.webp

Sam Gibson is another loanee for Fylde and joins from Premier League side Bournemouth. The defender represents a good back up option for Fylde in central defence and spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers were he made 14 appearances. The defender has also played six times in the Premier League for Bournemouth.

FYLDE'S AUGUST FIXTURES

August 2030 fixtures.webp

It's a busy August as Fylde start at home against Plymouth Argyle and host Portsmouth in the League Cup first round. The only absentee is Victor Oto'o who will missed the first few weeks of the season with an ankle injury. The players are focused and raring to go according to Duncan Ferguson and he is confident the squad is stronger than ever as they bid for the League One title for a second time.

What better than smashing them salad munchers 5-0 to get the boys set for the new season.

I think Delph lite, Oto’o needs to up his game or he’s gonna find himself on the sharp end of a harpoon.

Looking forward to seeing Maja magica, think he’ll tear this league up tbh.

@The Penalty Box Dancer what’s the latest on Bytheway we‘ve not heard from him since he pulled up against Swansea. I think his last insta post he was off for a visit to Wardys pig farm and no one‘s seen him since.

Bytheway returned in top condition and has had a full and proper Pre-Season to get him ready for a gruelling 46 match league campaign.

Did anyone else mentally play the theme to the A team when they read through those names!

Did anyone else mentally play the theme to the A team when they read through those names!

In 2029, a crack footballing unit was sent to Accrington
by a dodgy chairman in a league where they couldn’t compete.

This team promptly got relegated from the championship by a single point and returned to the Fylde underground.

If you have a harpoon, if no one else can help and if they haven’t been kidnapped....maybe you support THE FYLDE TEAM.

Der der derrr de de derrr.

Fylde were back at Mill Farm and it the stadium was at its new full capacity for the visit of Plymouth Argyle on the opening day of the League One campaign. Fans may be have been disappointed their team dropped from The Championship but the look on their faces today to see their team back at their home was a joyous occasion. John Jones started at left back for Fylde with Maja and Embid both on the bench. Fylde got the crowd cheering inside the first 40 seconds when Bytheway played it wide to Morton and he found O'Neill on the edge of the box but his shot was turned round the post by the keeper. The fans sounded their appreciation when Jones threw the ball to Henderson on the left, he turned his man and crossed to Bytheway who got up to head just wide of the post. Fylde had a free-kick on the left side of the box. John Jones crossed it in, Bytheway went up for the header but it was blocked, Henderson got in and tried to shoot but it was deflected, Josh Ferguson got his foot to the loose ball and got it over the line, 1-0 to The Coasters! Fylde were playing with flair in the first half, John Jones was like lightning up and down the left, Bytheway was determined to get on the scoresheet and Wilson was controlling the play from midfield. Euan Henderson smashed the crossbar on 39 minutes with a thunderous right footed shot. Fylde should be out of sight but Cooper in goal for Plymouth was putting in a good performance. Josh Maja was on for Tyrone O'Neill on 53 minutes after a mediocre performance. The striker was not involved in much of the attacking moves. John Jones was showing the Fylde fans his quality and he crossed into the box on 54 minutes but it was deflected off the defence and Jordan Wilson put his foot through the ball and it rifled into the top right corner! What a strike! John Jones put in a fantastic shift and received a standing ovation on 70 minutes when he was replaced by the veteran Chima Okoroji. Josh Maja came close to scoring on his debut when he nodded Okoroji's cross inches wide on 80 minutes. It was an easy day out for Fylde on their return to League One as they strolled to victory.

DF: We can't be complacent. We worked hard today and we won, we kept Plymouth out but we can't go into matches thinking the job is done before we kick the ball.

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

Fylde were in search of a left winger for back-up to Euan Henderson and it seemed the loan deal for Newcastle's Ian Brown was off as the player was in talks with Preston. It was approaching 11pm and it seemed it was to be a quiet day for Fylde but news came in that Adrian Pirone had arrived at Mill Farm for a medical. The deal was done at the last minute and Fylde got the paperwork over the line in time to sign the 22 year old on loan from Huddersfield Town.

ADRIAN PIRONE

Adrian Pirone.webp

Adrian Pirone was part of the Chelsea academy but was sold to Huddersfield in 2026. The winger who can play left or right and even as a striker featured on loan for Cheltenham, Charlton Athletic and Walsall and now joins The Coasters for the 2030/31 season.

AFC Fylde vs Bradford City
10th August 2030

=Bradford result.webp

Fylde were off to a great start and wanted to keep that going. New signing Adrian Pirone made the bench and it was still too soon for the return of Victor Oto'o. Fuller had a chance with the free-kick 20 yards out, he got it over the wall and Foster done well to palm it away. Brady got to the ball and pulled it back to Phil Stone who fired Bradford into the lead on 5 minutes. Mick Wisdom tried his luck from the free-kick on 14 minutes and the keeper saved well. John Jones tried to score from the rebound but missed and Fergsuon got it to Henderson who had the whole goal to aim for and he levelled to make it 1-1. Bradford were happy to sit back with a 5 man midfield but Tyrone O'Neill done brilliantly to intercept the throw in just inside the Bradford half and play the ball quickly wide to Henderson who broke into the area, dribbled past two defenders and knocked it past the keeper very calmly! What a wonderful goal! 54 minutes, John Jones takes the free-kick on the left and directs it towards Alan O'Neill at the far post, he heads across goal and Mick Wisdom nods it just over. Daniel Embid came on for Josh Ferguson and slotted into a defensive midfield three. Adrian Pirone made his debut replacing Vince Bytheway. John Jones put in a good performance but was on a booking and looked likely to get sent off so Ferguson brought on Chima Okoroji for the last ten minutes. It was another win for Fylde as they made it three out of three. Next up is a home tie in the League Cup against Portsmouth.

DF: We got the result, the performance might not have been flashy but we came back from a goal down and won the match. Henderson was brilliant, it's amazing what a bit of competition can do to a player's performance.
