AFC Fylde vs Swansea City
22nd April 2030

Three games to go and a chance to pick up points in Fylde's last match at The Crown Ground with the visit of 12th placed Swansea City. Mick Wisdom was on the bench for this one and Jordan Wilson operated in midfield with Charley Coe. Mick Wisdom has started 42 games this season in The Championship and has been brilliant for The Coasters depsite them struggling this season. It was all Swansea in the opening ten minutes but Fylde done well to evade the early pressure. Vince Bytheway pulled up on 17 minutes indicating he can no longer carry on and was replaced by Victor Oto'o, a blow to Fylde's end of seasons hopes. Okoroji hit the ball long and O'Neill done well to get it down but had no support, Henderson arrived and received the ball, he played it to Josh Ferguson who tried the shot and the keeper deflected it behind. Matt Daly took the ball for Swansea and played it long towards O'Kelly, he drifted past Mohammed easily and slotted past Hadler to give Swansea the lead. Poor defending from Mohammed. Swansea kept threatening and Tom Hadler made some fantastic saves to keep them out. Ferguson went more attacking in the final 15 minutes when Wilson was replaced by Declan Marshall. Fylde didn't have enough about them to get the win from the match and it was a sad day in Accrington as these fans saw their team on the brink of relegation.

DF: The players need to perform better, we have shown what kind of quality we can produce and it was absent today. In a game where we needed a performance, we did not step up.

Koff Fylde!

CAN FYLDE STAY UP?

There are two matches left to play in The Championship this season and Fylde would need to take points from both remaining games against Coventry and Bolton both away from home. It has been a difficult season for Fylde and they were always going to find it tough due to not being strong enough to compete. Fylde were subject to a takeover and new owner Kevin Ward did not allow any transfers or loans in the January window apart from the loan deal for Kwaku Mohammed partly due to their affiliation with Fylde. Duncan Ferguson stated many times he would want a striker to help the team in the second half of the season but it never came to fruition. It would be an incredible feat if Duncan Ferguson can get six points from the last two games and do all he can to survive and maybe then he can build Fylde stronger. If they are relegated, Ferguson may be tempted to move on.

Do we play 45 matches a season? It looks like we just need to win our last game? Will we have our stadium back next season?

Can Fylde stay up or will they be playing in League One next season? They could be relegated in 90 minutes. Coventry started the match at a great pace and caught Fylde half asleep on 5 minutes when White powered a header past Foster after getting on the end of Hannam's cross. With Fylde trailing they hit back a minute later when Wisdom crossed from the free-kick and Alan O'Neill was at the back post to nod in his second of the season! Tyrone O'Neill had the ball and came forward from the half way line, he had Bytheway and Henderson either side, he played it to Bytheway and put it across the box and Henderson slotted to make it 2-1! Fylde go ahead! Can they do it? Seven minutes into the second half and Matt Lewis rose above Jamieson to head across the goal but it clipped the post and went in equalising for Coventry. Foster should have done better with that angle. 55 minutes and Wisdom took the corner aiming for head of Alan O'Neill but he was outjumped and it was cleared. Henderson got hold of the ball on the edge of the box, took a touch with his right and blasted low into the bottom corner! 3-2 to The Coasters! Fylde just had to keep this together and had 8 minutes left to get through to record an important victory. Ferguson was in the technical box telling his players to relax. Fylde came down the left with Tyrone O'Neill, he played it inside to Charley Coe who done well to hold up the ball and he played it to the right for Jordan Wilson and he lined up the shot which he directed into the bottom right corner giving Fylde a two goal cushion! The cushion was short-lived when Aly Malle blasted from close range inside the box on 85 minutes to pull one back for Coventry, this one is going to the wire! There was three minutes left on the referees watch, Fylde were trying to keep hold of possession but were playing dangerously in front of their own goal. Ferguson told his players to get the ball into the corners ans the final whistle went to give Fylde a much needed victory going into the last day of the season!
