Ferguson made a few changes to the side that sealed promotion in Northamton three nights ago. Lamptey and Garrett both started at full back and Bret McGavin partnered Mick Wisdom. First placed rochdale were away to Gillingham and Fylde were hoping to cut the gap to a single point. 11 minutes in and Tyrone O'Neill picked the ball up in midfield and brought it forward, he got it on to his right foot and put it into the top right corner from outside the area! Great goal! Barry Sargent tried to double the lead five minutes later but his shot from outside the box went over the bar. Euan Henderson was struggling with a thigh injury and Ferguson replaced his talisman with Callum Simpson. Johnson came forward with the ball down the right, he played it to Sargent who held it up on the outside of the box then flicked it to O'Neill who hit it first time into the bottom corner! Fylde had some defending to do in the last ten minutes of the half, Cambridge limited to shots from way out. Cambridge had a corner in the last minute of the half which was cleared by Feeney to Kirby who sent a swerving low shot into the bottom corner which Foster had limited vision to see. Cambridge pulled one back at a good time in the match. McGavin had the ball in the centre of the pitch after picking it up from the Fylde corner, Gibson took the ball easily from him and broke forward putting him one on one with Foster, Gibson dinked it over Foster to level the score! It got worse for Fylde on 5 minutes when Gibson set up Kirkby to score a long range shot to turn this whole game around and put Cambridge in front! Bryan Johnson brought the ball forward from deep, remaining unchallenged towards the edge of the area, he played it into the path of Sargent but the defender attempted to clear, the ball ricochet to Callum Simpson who slotted home with his left foot to pull the game back! The match was being played at a very high tempo and Cambridge got the ball over to Halliday, who knocked it past Okoroji but Okoroji stuck out his leg and brought him down inside the area, a clear penalty. Otis Khan against Neil Foster, slotted into the bottom right corner! The game was end to end and Johnson crossed for Sargent who headed against the bar with twenty minutes to go. The game rolled into stoppage time and it looked like it was set for a Cambridge victory. Lamptey came down the right and managed to get a cross for the head of Sargent but he missed the header and it fell to Simpson who slotted with his left! Fylde grabbed a late point! Fylde almost got a fifth, Johnson crossed towards Simpson but his shot was blocked and cleared. An excellent match came to an end with Callum Simpson rescuing a point for The Coasters.

Cracking game that. Lads still half cut from the celebrations but still scoring 4 past the boffins of Cambridge. How do you like them apples Professor Hawkings? Soft southern ****s.

PROMOTED FYLDE EXPECTING CAULDRON

It's the first home game since Fylde secured promotion and it has been the talk of the town all week. The fans will be there to welcome their heroes as they play their first match at Mill Farm with promotion secured.

York City match.webp

AFC Fylde and York City were fierce rivals in their National League days and it could be a bitter pill to swallow for York to see their rivals gaining back to back promotions. York City manager Edu Rubio gave his thoughts on Fylde's success. "They have achieved something magnificent and I'd imagine they came up with the aim to survive in the Football League. I feel we have achieved our aim this season and we will build on our season here. I have been in the job for four months and we have a chance of doing what Fylde have done with the right acquisitions. Duncan is a true footballing man and I believe he will continue to be successful. I hope we can rain on their parade a little bit this weekend."

Mucho respecto from Rubio.

Still beat these dirty dog botherers though. They are what is wrong in modern football.

Disappointed I had to go off last night but just couldn't run off the knock. Really impressed by the lads getting back into it, just a shame we couldn't push on for the win.

We go again against York.

Will be waiting on a late fitness test on my thigh but hoping for a full house at Mill Farm to celebrate a fantastic season.

It was a carnival atmosphere at Mill Farm with various celebrations in the build up to kick off. The Fylde fans were in full voice before kick off with the away fans also backing their team vocally. Fylde were playing free flowing football and on 20 minutes O'Neill laid it off for Johnson to get a right footed effort away but it hit the face of the post and the keeper claimed the rebound. Johnson dribbled down the right and crossed into the box, Sargent peeled off his marker and got on sight of goal but his shot was saved by the keeper, Henderson kept it alive and crossed back in for Johnson but the ball was cleared to safety. Mick Wisdom lined up the free kick 30 yards out, he sent a fizzing cross into the box and Nathan Smith was there to tap it home to the delight of the supporters! His first of the season! Fylde held their lead in the second half and there was little action. Tariq Lamptey left the field on 73 minutes with an injury and Tyler Garrett operated as a makeshift right back. The game rolled into stoppage time and Bryan Johnson drew cheers from the fans as he tricked his way past Toyne and left him for dead to get down the touchline. It was far from the blockbuster spectacle but Fylde got the three points and the job done.

DF: I'd like to start by congratulating Rochdale on winning the division this season. They have been a joy to watch and deserve it. On today's game, I felt we got away with a little bit, it wasn't our most comfortable of victories and we need to perform better in future. I hope the fans had an enjoyable afternoon and hope we can give them a few goals to cheer next weekend against Chesterfield.

My brews gone cold I'm wondering why I
Got off the bog at all
Empty cans clog up my window
And I can't see at all
And even if I could it'll all be grey
Put your picture on my wall
It reminds me, that it's not so bad
It's not so bad

Dear Hendo, I wrote you but still ain't callin'
I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom
I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not-a got 'em
There probably was a problem at the post office or somethin'
Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em
But anyways, sod it, what's been up? Man how's your daughter?
My girlfriend's pregnant too, I'm 'bout to be a father
If I have a daughter, guess what I'm a call her?
I'ma name her Hendo
I read about your Uncle Ronnie too I'm sorry
I had a friend poo himself over some club who didn't want him
I know you probably hear this everyday, but I'm your biggest fan
I even got the Gola shorts that were endorsed by fat Sam
I got a room full of your posters and your pictures man
I like the tackles you did against Yeovil too, that lunge was bad!
Anyways, I hope you get this man, hit me back,
Just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan
This is Mac

My brews gone cold I'm wondering why I
Got off the bog at all
The mounting cans clog up my window
And I can't see at all
And even if I could it'll all be grey
Put your picture on my wall
It reminds me, that it's not so bad
It's not so bad

Dear Hendo, you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance
I ain't mad, I just think it's sad that you don't answer fans
If you didn't wanna talk to me outside your house
You didn't have to, but you coulda signed an autograph for alter ego Matthew
That's my other me man, he's only six years old
We waited in the blistering cold for you
For four hours and you just said, "No."
That's pretty crappy man, you're like his footy idol
He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do
I ain't that mad though, I just don't like bein' lied to
Remember when we met in Dominoes, you said if I'd write you you would write back
See I'm just like you in a way
I never knew my father neither
He used to always cheat on my mum and search for more beaver
I can relate to what your saying in the Fylde Gazette
So when I have a crappy day, I too fantasise about your wife Yvette
'Cause I don't really got much else so that pic helps where she's undressed
I even got a tattoo of your name across my chest
Sometimes I even punch myself to see how much I feel
It's like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush my love is real
See everything you say is real, and I respect you 'cause you tell it
My 4 girlfriend's are jealous 'cause I talk about you 24/7
But they don't know you like I know you Hendo, no one does
She don't know what it was like for people like us growin' up, you gotta call me man
I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose
Sincerely yours, Mac
P.S. James Rodriguez is doing well at Everton

My eggs gone cold I'm wondering why I
Got out of jail at all
My morning glory clouds up my window
And I can't see at all
And even if I could it'll all be grey
Put your picture on my wall
It reminds me, that it's not so bad
It's not so bad

Dear Mister "I'm Too Good To Call Or Write My Fans"
This will be the last package I ever send your ass
It's been six months and still no word, I don't deserve it?
I know you got my last two letters, I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect
So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it
I'm in the caravan right now, I'm doing 90 on the Fifa
Hey Hendo, I drank a fifth of vodka
You dare me to do a Valderama?
You know the song by Phil Collins, "In the Air of the Night"
About that guy who could a saved that other guy from drowning
But didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a a show he found him?
That's kinda how this is, you could a rescued me from drowning
Now it's too late, I'm watching gone with the wind, I'm drowsy
And all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call
I hope you know I ripped all of your pictures off the wall
I love you Hendo, we coulda been together, think about it
You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it
And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you scream about it
I hope your conscience eats at you and you can't breathe without me
See Hendo, shut up! I'm tryin' to talk!
Hey Hendo , that's my mum screamin' in my trunks
But I didn't wear her coat, I just tied her shoes up, see I ain't like you
'Cause if she sings dire straits then we'll all suffer more, and probably all die too
Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now
Oh crap, I forgot, we ain't got Chelsea until tomorrow!

My porridge has gone cold I'm wondering why I got out of my tent at all
The morning rain clouds up my window
And I can't see at all
And even if I could it'll all be grey
Put your picture on my wall
It reminds me, that it's not so bad
It's not so bad

Dear Mac, I meant to write you sooner but I just been busy
You said your mums pregnant now, jeez how old is she?
Look, I'm really flattered you wanted to share a flat
And here's an autograph for your alter ego Matthew, that's what I called my cat!
I'm sorry I didn't see you at the match, I must of missed you
Don't think I did that pass intentionally just to diss you
But what's this crap you said about you like to wear womens bras too?
I say that stuff is just clownin' dog, come on, how dirty are you?
You got some issues Mac, I think you need a cuppa
To help your ass from bouncing off the walls when you've had another upper
And what's this crap about us meant to be together?
That type of thing will make me not want us to meet each other
I really think you and your girlfriends need each other
Or maybe you just need to treat them better
I hope you get to read this letter, I just hope it reaches you in time
Before you love yourself too much which I agree your looking fine
If you relax a little, I'm glad I inspire you but mac
Why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as my man
I just don't want you to do some crazy things
I seen this one thing on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick
Some dude was drunk and took his harpoon to Stamford bridge
And had Wham playing loud with Nigel Ridge-ly
Playing in the car they found that tape, but they didn't say who it was to
Come to think about, his name was, it was.....
Damn!

AFC Fylde vs Chesterfield

=Chesterfield result.webp

A sell-out crowd in attendance for the last match of the League Two campaign! The teams walked out to a thunderous reception and as the fans chanted Duncan Ferguson's name, the big man remained humble in the dugout. Tyrone O'Neill played a nice one-two with Sargent and O'Neill's shot was just wide of the post on 3 minutes. Mark Morton was back in the side after a rest and crossed to find Henderson who struck the post on 27 minutes, the defender tried to hold Henderson off but Henderson got to the ball first to knock it over the line! The winger is tipped to win the League Two player of the season and has dominated the goalscoring charts. Okoroji crossed from the left on 32 minutes, towards Sargent but the ball was cleared, O'Neill took it on the chest, controlled on the knee and volleyed into the top left corner! What a strike! His 14th of the season. The striker really excelling playing in the no. 10 role. Fylde were in control of the match in the first half, Neil Foster making a couple of good saves to keep the score at 2-0. Ferguson's side were putting on a show for the supporters with delightful passing, Henderson knocked it into the box for the head of Sargent but the keeper claimed it, the striker should be doing better with them chances. Tyrone O'Neill received a standing ovation as he left the field for Josh Ferguson for the final 20 minutes. It was a moment of sentiment as Ferguson sent on Mark Connolly for Morgan Feeney, the 36 year old looking likely to feature in his last game as a Fylde player. The game went into stoppage time and the fans cheered every pass and every shot. Foster played it long to second half substitute Callum Simpson who took it wide, played in Bryan Johnson who was inside the area and he smashed it into the roof of the net! 3-0! The on-loan winger was straight over to the fans behind the goal! The whole stadium was rocking as Fylde sang about marching up the football league. The stadium was shaking and Ferguson was smiling on the touchline. The final whistle was hard to hear with the cheering but it was another season over for Fylde and this time it ended in success! What a campaign from The Coasters! The whole team was on the pitch, Ferguson and his staff were there celebrating. The fans broke onto the field and what a joyous moment it was for The Coasters! The players being held aloft by supporters. A brilliant end to a brilliant season!

DF: We were brilliant today, front to back, we played very well. Neil was incredible in goal yet again and what can I say about Euan Henderson? He keeps getting better and better and is always working hard. The effort he puts in every day on the training pitch is rewarded on the field every weekend. It's a big day for all us Coasters and we are going to enjoy our party tonight. These lads deserve it after all their hard work this season. I've enjoyed every moment of it. It's an incredible feeling to be promoted and to be playing our football in League One!

David Haythornthwaite: It's been my dream to see this football club in the Football League for many years and to be playing in League One is big time! Duncan is a bonafide legend here and no matter what happens here on out he will always have that status with this football club.

Morgan Feeney: It's so hard to believe after everything we've been through over the years. We battled hard every match this season and we outplayed a lot of teams, I'm happy with how I'm playing and looking forward to being a part of this team next season.
