Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

Salford City vs AFC Fylde
17th April 2027

Salford's well known threat was down both flanks and Fylde needed a plan to stop that. Mark Connolly came into the team as Feeney was struggling for fitness and he nearly headed Fylde in front. Atkinson has dangerous delivery and he crossed from his free-kick to Odoffin who headed Salford into the lead after 13 minutes. Foster was at fault for committing himself. You wuld think Salford were top of the league with their breathtaking first half performance and were making it hard for Fylde to get going. Fylde had a throw-in inside the Salford half, Okoroji picked up the second ball, played it into the centre for Croasdale who was in space, he tried a dipping shot and it went in! What a hit from Ryan Croasdale! Atkinson got forward with the ball towards the edge of the box, Okoroji tackled and it looked like Atkinson pulled down Okoroji, the Fylde players stopped, Palmer picked up the ball and put it in the back of the net, the referee indicated the goal stands! No foul given and Fylde completely switched off. Sam Allaway came on for Ferguson in the second half with a lot of work to be done. The second half ticked away and Salford were looking likely to take the points. Wisdom floated in the corner with five minutes to go, Henderson got up in front of the keeper and headed Fylde level! Tyrone O'Neill gort the bal with his back to goal, turned and hit a right footed shot towards the top corner but the keeper pulled off a magnificent save to keep the score level. It ended all square in Salford and Fylde drop a massive two points in the title race.

The tension is absurd

I so want you to win! lol

Here we go. They all come out the woodwork now. ‘Being following this thread from the start mate’ ‘always said Tyrone O’Neil was a great player’
Where were you at Dulwich Hamlet away mate?! We’ve put in the hard yards for this!
I seen you sneak into the home end and lamp that mouthy git that was giving it large behind the wall of coppers. BOOM

Call yourself a coaster?

I've no love for the vegens but you were in the middle of the madness down there this season along with Macca. Fellas never enjoyed an away trip as much, remember @Yarrgh couldn't even blog about it as nothing was suitable for publication (I suspect he has everything preserved in a diary or something though).
Just saying its the best away of the year and I wouldn't mind the madness continuing in the football league next season. It's great in the conference but can't help feel that it would mean more in the football league

It was Fylde's last home game of the season and the atmosphere was electric. With Fylde on level points with York it was a must-win game otherwise their chance of being champions was gone. It was a first half with lack of chances and both sides cancelling each other out, Fylde really need to take the game to their opponents in the second half and have so far not been impressive. The best chance of the game came with 22 minutes left when Allaway came on for O'Neill, he broke through on goal and played in Ferguson whose shot was palmed away from close range by the keeper. Five minutes left and Fylde must give it everything. Johnson to East, East finds Henderson who cuts in and hits a shot with his right foot, wide of the post. A minute later Wisdom's free kick hits the top of the bar and goes out. It's just not meant to be for Fylde. Allaway got on the end of MacDonald's pass to see him through on goal but the centre backs got back into position, he had to go wide for Johnson who crossed into the box towards the oncoming Henderson but the ball is cleared. A terrible stalemate which would make you think if either side really wanted to get the three points.

DF: I really wanted a statement win and was left unimpressed with how we wasn't more ruthless in attack. Credit to Tranmere who came and got the job done to help their play-off ambitions but that was a game that we really should have won today. We will see how the other games went this afternoon and we'll know what we have to do going to Torquay on the final day.
