Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

The big 7 running away with it again. Too much money sloshing around in the league for the big boys to allow the minnows to get involved up at the top. It might suit the mighty Fylde but I dream of an egalitarian league full of locals. Can you imagine if the MacCavennie boys were playing and not these mercenaries only here for a big pay day? We'd see passion on the pitch then. And in the stands.

Only have to look at Boreham Wood who came up from the VNS last season and are already battling for promotion and on the other side of the coin, Scunthorpe who were relegated from League Two last season now bottom of the National League.

Wait till that lot come to Mill Park, @JimmyJeffers has got something in store for their top boys.

Scunthorpe United vs AFC Fylde
12th December 2026

=SCUNTHORPE RESULT.webp

Scunthorpe were struggling in the National League, 24th in the table with only two wins all season. Euan Henderson had the best chance of the first half when McGavin cut opemn the defence, Henderson was through on goal but the finish was not good enough going straight into the arms of the keeper. Time was running out for both sides to desperately get the three points. Hadler played the ball long upfield, Wright-Phillips flicked it on, Townsend took control and weaved into the box, placing the ball past the keeper to put Fylde one-nil up. Fylde looked solid in possession and showed some attacking intent for the second, Henderson picked the ball up outside the box and tried one from range but it went just over the bar. With 7 minutes to go Scunthorpe had a rare chance getting the ball out wide and the cross came in for Markandaym he won the header and Tom Hadler should have dealt with the bobbling ball but it bounced into the bottom corner. As the match was dying out, Scunthorpe gained the momentum to go for the winner but the match ended a draw with a point for both sides.

F.A. TROPHY FIRST ROUND
AFC Fylde vs Warrington Town
19th December 2026

=Warrington result.webp

It was the F.A. Trophy first round and Warrington Town were the visitors. Duncan Ferguson made changes; Neil Foster started in goal, David Chester made his debut at left back, Ryan Elliot partnered Morgan Feeney, Billy Price started in the middle and Lee Lofthouse and Christian Hutson started up top alongside Tyrone O'Neill. Ferguson stated in the build-up, Lee Lofhouse had been putting everyone to shame on the training pitch and the 18 year old Fylde supporter had earnt his chance to impress. The F.A. Trophy had never been high on the list of priorities for Ferguson, league performance has always been his barometer of success but the Scot has been quoted as saying he would like to give the fans a day to remember at Wembley once again. Six minutes gone and Fylde pushed forward, David Chester switched the play left to right for Lamptey, he got forward and crossed at the byline for Billy Price to head The Coasters in front! Two minutes later Warrington were on the attack, Charlie Lyons had the ball on the left, he came forward unchallenged, crossed into the box, Foster went up for the ball but Albie Hopkins won it first knocking his header into the bottom corner, 1-1! Lamptey was slow to get over to the winger and allowed the ball to come in. Lamptey was playing well going forward, getting a cross to the far post for Lee Lofthouse who has still searching for his first senior goal, hitting the bar with his header. Fylde were coming forward down the flanks, Lamptey getting a lot of crosses into dangerous areas, the ball ran free of Chester, he retrieved it and crossed back in for Hutson to score! Five minutes into the second half and Warrington were not out of the game, Billy Price had a shot from outside the box blocked, the ball ran free to Lamptey who got the cross into the back post for Lee Lofthouse! 3-1! Lofthouse scored his first senior goal and what a great moment for the youngster who was Fylde season ticket holder growing up. A great header into the bottom far corner! He was straight over to the fans in the North End. Fylde were not done and two minutes later Lamptey got his third assist of the game when he played a low pass into Hutson who thrashed the ball past the keeper to get his second. It got worse for Warrington when on 56 minutes Rahman received his second yellow card for an obstruction on Ryan Croasdale, probably an unfair decision considering he was already on a booking. Lofthouse went for his second after bringing down the ball from Chester's long range pass but the keeper parried it away. Lee Lofthouse held the ball up well with a few minutes remaining, waited for the run of Chester down the left, Chester crossed into the box, Hutson brought it down nicely, beat his man and slotted to get his hattrick! Fylde advance to the next round! What a great debut for the youngster Chester and an amazing afternoon for Lee Lofthouse scoring his first goal for his boyhood club.

DF: Five goals created by our full backs today, they got forward really well and were impressive. I'm proud of our youngsters who put in workmanlike performances and were exceptional. For Lofty to get his first senior goal for the club he loves was a great moment and the coaching staff here are very confident he can continue his magnificent development.

AFC Fylde vs York City
26th December 2026

=york result.webp

The boxing day fixture was always one to look forward to but after 12 minutes it was not looking good for Fylde. Ethan Hartshorn was dominant in thr air winning his own flick on and scoring after ten minutes and Porsteinsson gave Hadler nightmares when he rattled in a long range effort two minutes later. Fylde sturggled for possession and lacked any desire to fight back. Porsteinsson scored again just before half time to send York in at the break three-nil up. Fylde's plan to go more attacking had little effect and Porsteinsson secured his hat-trick when he drove a low shot into the bottom corner. At this point the stands were emptying and Ferguson looked like a lost man. The game was finished but Fylde were buried without a fight on 82 minutes, Wilson scoring a close range header to give York an emphatic victory and Fylde slipping down the table in despair.

Bromley vs AFC Fylde
28th December 2026

=Bromley result.webp

An away trip to Bromley after the devastating home defeat to York City came up next for Ferguson's men and it meant some rotation within the side. Tyrone O'Neill got the nod up front, East and Croasdale formed the midfield and Ryan Elliot came in for Morgan Feeney. Euan Henderson was still sidelined with flu so Sterling was playing on the left. Neil Foster got a start in goal and a chance to impress the Fylde boss. Bromley were enjoying more possession in the first half and had a few chances but not much of a test for Foster. Chima Okoroji found himself forward and hit a shot on his right foot that just went inches wide. The first half still feeling like each side did not want to take too many risks. The deadlock was broken just after half-time when James Davies hit a free-kick into the box and Kenny Holloway lost his marker to score past Foster. Fylde came close to an equaliser when the space opened up for Croasdale and he hit the post from the edge of the box. A minute later Mark Connolly headed in from Ryan East's cross but the flag was up, much better from Fylde and Bromley were starting to feel the pressure.Neil Foster kept Fylde in the game making save after save when the defence was being cut open. The goalkeeper was furious with the poor marking from his back line. Ryan East was dangerous from his free-kick delivery, he got the ball over to the far post but Ryan Elliot headed just over. Fylde just could not get that goal but Foster was fantastic in goal and kept the scoreline down to one. It's now two back to back losses for Fylde and it can start to become worrying. We can all see what Ferguson is trying to do but does he have the players capable of playing the style that he asks of them. Over the years the football has been fluid, fast and great on the eye, but these lads seem to be struggling with that concept and it seems to be growing frustration for Duncan Ferguson.

AFC Fylde vs Dover Athletic
2nd January 2027

=dover result.webp

The new year and hopefully a new start for Fylde as they look to get a win after losing the last two games without much of a whimper. Henderson and Byram were back after being absent and Hutson partnered O'Neill up top in a attempt to get some goals. Wright-Phillips shot after 7 minutes stung the palms of the keeper after Henderson's stinging shot was initially blocked. Alex Hunt rocketed the ball into the net on 30 minutes after being played onside inside the box and scored with no challenge. Fylde off to another bad start. Fylde made changes at half-time using all three subs and going with a more attacking style of play. They had Dover under some early second half pressure but they could not get the ball into the back of the net. Balls were being crossed into the box, nobody could finish, corners were being cleared away far too easily. Frustration was growing on the terraces. Okoroji was screaming for the pass down the left, received the ball and got to the byline, he crossed low for Paul Townsend, who mis-kicked, the ball fell to Wisdom who tried his luck and the ball rolled over the line! Fylde get back into the game with fifteen minutes on the clock. The crowd picked up with chants of "Coasters" but it was Dover who almost stole the game, a close range shot saw Foster make a fine save to get Fylde a point on the board.

LEAGUE TABLE AFTER 27.webp

There was some positive news to come out of Fylde this week and Sam Allaway has started an individual training programme after the cruciate ligament injury sustained in pre-season. Ferguson and his team are hopeful Sam could be training with the first team in around six weeks time.

WTAF is going on

Alcohol poisoning surely from the team Crimbo dinner.

I told them ordering from Cummings Caf was a massive blunder and would have only been outdone if they'd have decided to use Boris' Bistro on the lane.

I swear there will be some repurcussions after this, I warned them. No More Mr Nice Guy (or Majestic Macca), gloves are off, undies are off (currently in the washing machine) Lonsdale trabs on, knuckle dusters on, gumsheild in, brylcream gel on, kettle on the go, 2 sugars please yeah two lumps getting kicked out u all u lazy excuses for part time togger players.

I'm taking them all with me, I'll take the whole system down with me as well, I'll blow the whole fkin thing up!

@maccavennie, I think it’s time for a full on Micheal Douglas ”falling down” moment.
