INJURY CRISIS HITS BOLTON
We are hours away from kick off with the visit of Aston Villa to The University of Bolton stadium and the news we are getting is manager Duncan Ferguson has a crisis on his hands in the form of injuries to key players in the first team squad. It appears Ferguson will be looking at some of the youth players to step up last minute as on loan Lewis Gibson has failed a late fitness test and right back Nathan Byrne has reportedly suffered a calf strain in training a few days ago and it is touch and go whether he will feature.
With injuries currently to Gibson, Batty and Sean Robertson, the squad looks thin with any further knocks or suspensions considered problematic for Wanderers.
There is a distinct lack of defensive cover currently and Max Broughton could be recalled from his loan spell at Rochdale.
Dwight McNeil is back in contention and is likely to start after 3 weeks out.

With Ferguson short of options, it was right back Dimitri Cacare operating at Let back and Nathan Byrne managing to overcome his recent strain and play the right back role. Joao Pedro led the attack and continued his recent impressive form, the first chance coming on 5 minutes when McNeil put him through on goal but he put the shot inches wide of the post. A good chance, a positive start and one to get the fans making some noise. Tom Doran made a nuisance of himself and was a constant problem for Bellusci throughout the game but the defender dealt with him well and kept close to his man. It was Cavare who found himself turned inside out by Doran when he beat him inside the box and slotted past Amos to give Villa the lead late on in the first half but Dwight McNeil was back to his best when he ran at the Villa defence before unleashing a cracking left footed shot than cannoned back off the crossbar and into the path of striker Pedro who pounced to put it away. Tom Doran again created havoc in the second half, this time turning provider when he took the ball out wide to beat Cavare once again to cross for Watkins to poke into the net. A freak goal that seemed to confuse the Bolton back line as there was a clear opportunity to remove the danger but the line seemed to stand still. 2-1 to Villa and was enough for them to take back to Birmingham.
DF: It wasn't easy but we didn't play too badly. Tom Doran gave us the runaround and he should've been dealt with more effectively. We had Cavare playing out of position and there was a lot of tired legs out there today especially in the center of the park. I asked Docherty and Lowe both to play defensive today with Remi Streete in the anchor man role, it was a case of trying to contain Villa and at times we looked good. I think fatigue was the issue as the game went on. I'm happy Dwight made a full return to the first team and Pedro reacted very quickly to score. He has been very impressive in training and it took him this time to adjust to the English game. He now seems in full swing and is getting on the scoresheet which is something we had numerous chats about. Despite the final result there are positives, we have a week now until we go to Sheffield United. They have Rondon up top who always has a goal in him, it is important we have a plan for him next weekend.

Having only picked up one win in his first four games in the job, Harry Kewell was minutes from grabbing his second league win but Craig McGuffie stole a point for Kidderminster in the last minute of play. Euan Henderson picked up the man of the match award and rounded off his display with a fine strike for AFC Fylde. Fylde are in 15th position in the Vanarama National League and if they are to salvage their poor season will need to start picking up results fast.
