Wrexham will be disappointed not to take anything from this game but Fylde proved to the media that they are serious promotion contenders by fighting tooth and nail to get the victory. James Hardy grabbing the win after a long punt downfield from Andy Bond which Hardy latched onto and unleashed at the back of the net.

FIRST VS THIRD.webp

It's Ebbsfleet up next for leaders Fylde in a must-win game for the coasters. Ebbsflet will be looking to get something from this fixture as they chase down the top spot.

ARE THE CRACKS STARTING TO APPEAR?

It was first vs third and top-placed Fylde came out on top with a convincing 4-2 victory over promotion chasing Ebbsfleet. Midfielder Andy Bond opened the scoring in the 5th minute and Joe Cardle continued his awesome form bagging two goals. Ebbsfleet were second best throughout the game and it was leaders Fylde who put themselves firmly in pole position.

Fylde were left reeling and frustrated ater suffering a heavy defeat against 15th placed Gateshead. Fylde were poor all across the park and struggled to put two passes together or create any clear cut chances. Gateshead controlled the game with Barrow sealing the victory after a long ball upfield from the goalkeeper bounced clear of the defence into the 18 yard box and Barrow tapped the ball home. Duncan Ferguson lost control on the touchline as the third went in and laid into his back line.

If it was a reaction the Fylde faithful were after, it didn't come in this game as it took a penalty to seal the points. The Fylde performance wasn't the best but they had enough about them to get the job done with left back Denver Hume scoring the best goal of the game with a left footed free kick nestling into the bottom corner.

Duncan Ferguson displayed a look of frustration as Fylde were picked apart by play-off chasing Bromley. Joe Cardle gave Fylde a fighting chance in the 88th minute after pulling it back to 3-2 and with 5 minutes stoppage time added on, The Coasters lacked the fighting spirit required to get anything from the game and a dejected Duncan Ferguson was lost for an explanation in his post match interview.

We now head into the final ten games of the season with Bury closing the gap to four points on leaders Fylde and it is now up to Duncan Ferguson to show his managerial desire and aim to take as many points as possible starting with an away trip to 24th placed Southport. Bury take on 7th placed Bromley.

@The Penalty Box Dancer - in the event that Fylde do secure promotion, which members of the squad do you think Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson will view as up to the task of playing at a higher level and who do you think will move on?

Duncan has been building the squad with promotion to league 2 in mind so it won't appear to be a complete clear-out but more of a transition. There are many talented players in the squad now who can play at a higher level and the younger players will have to work hard to make it in the football league.

Top players in the squad are:

Tom Brewitt
Denver Hume (on loan from Sunderland)
Nathan Ferguson (on loan from WBA)
James Hardy
Joe Cardle (will be 34 next birthday)
Ryan Croasdale (club captain and leader)
Danny Philliskirk
Danny Rowe
Luke Burke
Stephen Dooley (on loan from Rochdale)

A few players who may struggle:

Andy Bond
Lewis Montrose
Ashley Hemmings

Duncan will still be reliant on loan deals but if promotion does happen, better players can be attracted.

Danny Philliskirk, son of the mighty Tony Philliskirk, now there was a lower league legend!!!
