THE FA CUP JOURNEY BEGINS

It was Bromley away next up for Fylde in the National League and it was Bromley coming away with the victory after Joe Cardle deflected the ball into his own net from a Bromley corner. Fylde were matched on the park by Bromley and it was another game without a win.

Duncan Ferguson made wholesale changes for this one with winger Serhat Tasdemir playing very well and getting himself on the scoresheet in the second half. Experienced midfielder Andy Bond controlled the game getting himself a goal and an assist in the process.

DF: I was impressed with some of the younger players out there today, I thought Maffeo had a good game on the right as well as Sam Gibson and these are the players who are ready waiting in the wings. If the senior lads aren't up to the task then it makes my job a lot easier. The league form has to improve, we are still top but I don't know how. I'll change things as I see fit.

The draw for the F.A. Cup First round was made this evening:

League One side Coventry City will travel to Mill Farm which could prove to be a difficult encounter for the coasters.

CAN FYLDE TURN IT AROUND?

Solihull Moors gave Fylde a torrid time in the second half but it was a penalty in the 81st minute that saw the heads of the Fylde players drop. Solihull kicked on in the remaining ten minutes as Fylde opened up in a more attacking manner but Solihull proved too much for Fylde and gave them a thrashing.

Fylde travelled to top of the league Chesterfield in a must-win game for the coasters and it was a change of formation by manager Duncan Ferguson which saw Fylde pick up all 3 points. Ferguson decided to pack the midfield with Ryan Croasdale, Andy Bond and Paul Paton and a good away performance ensued. Second half substitute Ellis Simms scored to seal the victory with a placed shot from a low cross into the bottom corner. Fylde are hoping this victory is the turning point in the season.

FYLDE LOOK FOR STRONG WINNING FORM

Dover Athletic took the lead at Mill Farm but it was prolific striker Danny Rowe with an equaliser in the 33rd minute after cutting onto his left foot beating the defender and putting it past the keeper. Fylde pressed in thr second half and Rowe's second came after the poacher sniffed out a loose ball and capitalised on the opposition error. A cool, calm finish gave Fylde all 3 points but it was a tightly contested affair and games are not as easy as they once were for The Coasters.

Next up was the F.A. Cup First round at home to Coventry City. Coventry were on a good run of form before the game with Fylde being a bit inconsistent as of late.

The game didn't start too well for the home side as Coventry played the ball around nicely with high tempo before striker Jodi Jones scored a belting left footed shot that flew past Griffiths into the top corner. Before Fylde could get going they were already 2-0 down inside the first 7 minutes. The talk of the game came when Abu Ogogo hacked down James Hardy and was instantly dismissed with manager Gary Megson defending his side's conduct. It was now an opportunity for Fylde to get a foothold but Coventry seemed far more superior on the day and there was nothing Fylde could do to disturb that. Coventry City came here and played like a side looking assured and confident. Fylde on the other hand struggled in front of goal and appeared to lack a game plan. One to forget for The Coasters.

McFARLANE TO BE GIVEN CHANCE

New signing Kyle McFarlane has not set the world alight since joining Flyde on a free transfer this season. In his six appearances the striker has had no goal return and it is reported he discussed his issues with manager Duncan Ferguson this week. Sources suggest McFarlane is in line for a start against Maidstone as Danny Rowe has struggled with a tight calf this week in training.
