Formation Change?

Do you guys notice we are getting picked apart in the midfield? Especially late in games, it seems like our midfield is being muscled off the pitch. I've always been a fan of a 3-6-1 and if deployed correctly, can be a potentially stifling formation(for opposing teams). Do you guys think a formation change should be in order and if so, what? Who would you deploy?
3-6-1
Howard
Jagielka Heitinga Distin
Fellaini Gibson
Mirallas Pienaar Baines
Osman
Jelavic

Potentially stifling and your a big fan???

From what ??? Footy manager....

There's nothing wrong with our formation. Some of the players deployed in it are not pulling there weight or due to some crucial injuries we have some average players in the setup.

Moyes almost found his first 11 this season and found a formation that he is sticking with. However, the replacement players coming in are not of sufficient calibre to continue to pull it off. I think the quality of squad depth is a bigger issue for DM than formations.

Spot on pal.

what he said.

Although I thought that the correct way to go was select a formation to suit the players you have avaliable. Not try to shoe horn players into the formation du jour.
And also that we had seen the last of Sq pegs in round holes.

This is it Degsy, DM has tried to sign versatlie players. Thing is, because he is sticking with the formation we have players doing a job, but not a productive one. Players that can play in a position, but not their best position.

Once we have a fully fit squad, we will look back at these last 6 weeks as a blip. I hope.
Then there is the other side of me which says this is as good as it has been for a long long time!

Moyes won't ever change.

Not even his socks ijjy. He is a creature of habit and he buys his wife the same present every Christmas. She's sick of it by the way. She doesn't need another tin opener!

But Moyes will stick with the formation and rely on coaching his fringe players into the required positions. Not pretty for the fans sometimes, but a 'no lose' strategy perhaps? Except that we lost a couple.

However, I do not remember too many complaining during the first few games! It'll be right mate. We will finish where we deserve to be, no doubt at all.

Oh I know we'll be fine when we get the Gibson and Mirallas types back in.

But remember when Moyes has gone like 442 for example. It never worked either.

I bet Moyes does change his socks actually. But he has a desperate pair for each day of the week. Possible with the days written on them. But has to be told what day it is by Steve Round, who talks him through it via that stupid headset.

It does open the debate as to whether Moyes is picking the right socks.

I actually dont mind 4-4-2 at home if it against the lesser teams. 4-4-2 requires the least extra coaching and so for fringe players, it is the easiest to adapt to.

I don't mind it either. But he does.

Moyes is about as likely to change formation as I am change my avatar.

pretty much agree with this. me i'm an old fashioned 4-4-2 guy i like having 2 strikers on the pitch but don't mind 4-4-1-1 if the number 10 is a good player. 3-6-1 never known anybody use it ever 3-5-2 yes but not 3-6-1 that would be terribly defensive.

You know how week in week out we are getting the better possesion, more shots, more on target and generally picking up points.. This is not as bad as people think.
