Ok,been with virgin a good while now on the xl package with 20 meg broadband.
Phoned up today having a good old whinge,(new customers get 30 meg as standard) as of next wednesday 13th july they are installing a 50 meg superhub for a one off activation fee of £30.00 coupled with a £2.00 deduction in my monthly bill.
It pays to complain lids(y)

its alright for those with cable connections, its pathetic that they stopped laying it, [Poor language removed].

I got unlimited downloads, 30meg speed for £20 last year.

Bit of a cock up as they thought my contract was coming to an end and because all the other broadband providers were dishing out better set deals.

I had about 5 months left, bloke said it must have been a mistake because it says its up for renewal do you want unlimited downloads on the XL package for £20....

Took about 5minutes of me asking him if it was a con..he said no. Got changed over the next month.

Boom

Thanks, called up today, getting the 30MB with a £2 saving to, and a free Virgin media hub so all in all a good bit of advice

Just been on the blower.....

A while ago I got a flyer saying all 10Mb Broadband customers will be getting a free upgrade to 30Mb.
I was still getting 10Mb so asked when it's going to happen ? She gavce me a site to find out...
http://doublespeed.virginmedia.com/

It said oct12-jul13, apparently we all get new equipment.

Anyway she said that she could up me to 20Mb now, for free, no new contract or tie in or anything.
When the other upgrade happens though, because I am now on 20Mb it will go up to 60mb.

So if you are still getting 10Mb and awaiting the upgrade you should ring their customer services to get up to 20 then 60 for free.

nice one Reids.....will do that when i get home. Good man.

it was instant as well cos I checked whilst still on the phone.... 19.2Mb which when I checked on my area on the test site is bob on, and all the rest mustn't realise as still on 10Mb. The ones with BT etc i.e. copper wire are getting less than 1Mb and thats the max they can get.

Had a laugh cos she said "what will you be able to do with the extra speed?"

"Post faster on a forum." was the answer, I couldnt exactly say "access piratebay via a proxy and get shiz quicker."

I reckon I am getting fleeced.
I am on the 100MB with Virgin, phone and XXL TV package but its costing me £90 a month :(

mine had got up to 70 odd a month so I had a cull of some channels.
Just cancelling skysports and watching games through other means saves the cost of my season ticket.

really it's only the b/band I need really, but my arl fella gets it through talktalk and he can watch stuff just the same as me, his downloads take longer but he doesn't do much of that, so maybe we have all become fixated with the need for speed.

I've got virgin but I don't know what megaspeed I've got

I have the crappy TV and line rental package too, but I'm only bothered about t'internet

I pay approx £30 per month, so what should I do ?

Thanks in advance.

Confused, Walton.
