Through the 70's and into the 80's on both major channels, The Goodies were recognisable household names. Influenced by the likes of Monty Python, they created a situation comedy made up of comic sketches and general larking about. Often they would parody other television programmes and situations for comedy effect.

But who was the main man, the driving force in your eyes? Post your comments and even poll your vote, because we pretend we care about the result.

The contenders: Scruffy, bird-oggling Bill Oddie, deep thinking Graeme Garden, or the more Conservative Tim Brooke-Taylor.

I'd agree with Degs. Bill Oddie went on to be the 'household name' but obviously for non-comedy topics.

I was never that keen on them tbh, but the one with the tandem was good.

It was one of those I'd end up watching with parents, largely due to the fact that there wasn't a lot else on in those days!
Harmless fun, never a big fan as such, but I got thinking about an hour ago that we older lot are poorly represented on GOT! Just the odd thread, we need more!

Don't know why but i really hate this show, probably cause its awful.

Only good thing they ever done was Bananaman.

Oh, and B.Oddie once gave Alan Partridge a dressing gown as a present.

The zany, Python-esque comedy definitely came from Tim Brooke-Taylor. I think the fact Brooke-Taylor & Garden were friends with some of the Python guys had a good knock on effect. Loved watching this show in the '70's & 80's.

Type Tim Brooke Taylor - luxury into YouTube.
Brilliant.. Absolutely brilliant. The Python lads even had to admit it wasn't theirs once..

Even though dated and in black and white.. Awesome comedy.
