I like Quorn, never thought I'd say that, becoming a vegetarian is a bit expensive though and I am utterly clueless on veggie dishes.
I'm a vegan and honestly, there is very little you can't make now.
Think of a dish and it is generally can be made veggie/vegan.

I can't eat a lot of quorn as it has egg in. But there is a load if other substitute meat products out there.
Richmond sausages and sausage patty and Sainsbury's own sausages are superb. Fed them to meat eaters and they had no idea.
Tesco mince is really good. Just add it to your dish just before serving. Make whatever you are making, fry the mince then add. Then just let if finish off for 10 mins or so.
Wicked and moving mountain make the best burger. But so easy to make your own.

Oomph make some good stuff.
Chicken and beef pieces we found naked glory to be best.

Once you find the right products. It really becomes easy.

Are there vegan liver or kidneys ?

So much better. First time I came across it was about 88, quorn tikka massala, was quite springy, but bear in mind there was nothing else around then so it was a revelation**

**there were only 7 vegetarians in the UK and vegans hadn't been invented ;)
I can imagine it was pretty pricey back then? Was it new when you came across it?

I don’t know if I’d ever become a full vegan/veggie through choice but I try to eat less meat. I try and have 3 days a week I don’t have any and only really eat it for my evening meal nowadays. I might have the odd bit of chicken through the day. I’ll try and eat eggs over meat of a day, it’s probably no better for the environment over something like chicken but it just feels like it’s better haha. I don’t eat a lot of seafood either, I’d like to say it’s after watching seaspiricy but in truth I’ve never been a massive fan

I think the price was relatively low as it was trying to map out an emerging market, it wasn't prohibitive.
I too have cut down on meat, fish is too expensive for an island, and the standards of vegetables has deteriorated over the last two years.
I like to do a lot of daals/dahls, use a lot of pulses. With the right spices they can be amazing. Rice, cornmeal can all take on flavourings.
I'd like to think I'm helping out but meat is boring at the moment. I do like offal but it's not easy to get.

Thanks for that. I shop in Tesco and have started buying Tesco's plant food stuff, I've bout some Linda McCartney sausages and stuff as well. I've got some Quorn mince and chicken pieces I've yet to try. Didn't know Quorn had egg in like haha. I'm not full vegan, too much of a lifestyle change for someone with my budget.

Been using Quorn since late 80s, much improved now, but it's best used in something to hide it's texture, curries etc, or as smaller pieces (mince) in chilli, cottage pie, bolgnese, good stuff.
I've got some bolognaise and curry sauces to try, it's a lot more choice than I remember it being.

This is where I am, more a flexitarian a the moment but my meat consumption has gone down drastically. Although it is a conscious choice as I don't agree with how animals are mass farmed and some of the conditions they are in. I also read about speciesism which hit home a bit as well. I love animals like dogs and wouldn't eat them so why lambs and cows.

Anyway, I would never preach to anyone what diet they can consume, mine is just a choice to slowly convert.

I’m not a big fan of offal but I suppose it’s a great way to cut down on actual meat consumption as it would probably go to waste otherwise. I’ve got the Mowgli cookbook which has so really good daal recipes in if you’re looking for some ideas
