Fixture changes- How to make a point.

Should be a 1 in 3 games on a Saturday rule brought in. After Brentford we start a run of 5 home league games that are on a weekday night. Over a quarter of our campaign without touching a weekend.
its causing havoc with my work diary, I'd just moved a meeting forward day in Southampton to accommodate the bournemouth game and guess when the bournemouth game has been moved to FFS

Typical mate. Earlier this week I was about to book a half day for that game, then I thought best wait until the TV picks are made, as they seem to want to move us just for fun.

Going to use up a lot of holiday at this rate. I'll do that this season, they mess us around this much in the next one and I won't bother going.

Will continue like this until the Sat 3.00pm black out is gone, which will be shortly.

Simply too much money being lost.

The alternative is the creation on new time slots that just inconvenience fans.

While it won’t change - it could be managed better, so fans aren’t out of pocket die to last min changes.

I am sure there are many fans like myself who are getting sick and tired of the inconvenience of changes to our fixtures because of TV. We all know that the money from the broadcasters is massive, but does that give them the right to what they want without any consultation with fan groups, advisory boards etc??
What do fans need to do to show their feelings, make themselves heard, being taken serious?
It’s got to be right across the country. Enough is enough. Fans need to stick together, but how?
You answered your own question - money from broadcasters is massive.

Football is now an entertainment industry, not a sporting one and that means whoever pays the most makes the decisions.

I live in Australia so I am more important than people that go the games - you are paying for the privilege of being an extra in my entertainment.

If you want to be a matchgoing fan and have any input, then I'm afraid you will need to go and watch a lower league team.

None of the above is how it should be of course, but that is the reality. No matter how many threads are started, it's not going to change anytime soon.

Not sure how the Sat 3.00 pm black out affect things.

The problem is that the league has had massive tv deals for ages and as the market not necessarily are willing to keep paying stupid money, the league keep coming up with new ideas. They give broadcasters more matches, more control over scheduling and throw in silly things such as half time interviews with players and managers.

We are moving towards what we see in Spain. With ten matches and ten kickoff times next game week. You'll never be able to maximize your revenue form broadcasters with lots of matches played at the same time. It's unfortunate, but it's the reality.

It would be interesting to know how much of the tv revenue Everton should be willing to give up to get their matches played at 3pm Saturdays. £20 million a year? £30 million? £50 million?

For every Everton match selected for tv, Everton make about £1 million extra in TV revenue. That's £20 per seat for home fans at Hil Dickinson. Matches selected for TV help keeping tickets affordable.

The difficulty in the black market mate. There are millions who want to watch Pl domestically and in Ireland, who can’t go to the game - who can’t watch a game live at 3.00pm on Sat. The only way to do is illegally through alledgedly through streaming.

So what you have is millions with allegedly illegal streaming services, providing a service legit TV broadcasters can’t. Thus they are loosing billions in revenue.

How do the TV companies combat this, they minimise the amount of games at 3.00 pm Sat and create new slots that they can legally show games.

Thats the problem with the blackout and why it won’t last. Billions are at stake in rights in a huge national industry, while as this thread shows there is already a lobby if the fans.

It will give, in the not to distant future. The future will be no U.K. blackouts.

As a parent of a youngster who is too young to come to games atm (if ever), who is in commutable distance, midweek games work better.
Similarly as a fan who wants us to compete for top players, etc then the more revenue the better.
As a fan, I love a 3pm Saturday game and totally understand the issues.
I’ve never experienced following from a different time zone but maybe some fans hate a 3pm every week.

The days of the weekly match goer being the mainstay of a club is long gone. I agree that late changes are totally unfair though.

Not sure what I’m really saying but it is never going to suit everyone, albeit tv deals certainly extend our global reach.
