Nice video of West hams final game at Upton park

Wish there was a way of keeping the old girl going now...

Good film that.

Sad watching it. Gonna be us in a few weeks. Gonna be a lot of sad Toffees on that last day.

For me it is the family thing. Most of my lot went to Goodison. My Grandad did before he was killed in WW2. So many family stories of the place from before my time. Then, me and my lovely pops at my first game. Pops is no longer with us and he would have not have wanted to move grounds (sorry pops) So many family members and good friend, good blues, now gone. It will be a sad day indeed, but they will all be with us in spirit as we say our final goodbye.

For the club it is a move that had to be done. The kids will love it as that new stadium is amazing. We will have our memories, wonderful memories. Yep, we have had some horrid times, but I have loved the Old Lady, and always will.

Not ashamed to say that I know I will have a tear in me old eye on the last day.

COYB!

The first league game at Goodison Park took place on 3 September 1892 against Nottingham Forest; the game ended in a 2–2 draw. The stadium's first competitive goal was scored by Forest's Horace Pike and the first Everton goal scored by Fred Geary.

If the PL had any sense of or thought about football and its history they could have made our last ever home game at Goodison against Forest.

As it's Southampton, instead, and Alcaraz used to play for them and now he plays for us I'll go for him in the 89th minute before we send him back to Flamenco.
This is true actually. Had it been the last season at Old Trafford or Anfield they’d probably dedicate the entire season to the ground as some kind of swan song and they’d pull out all the stops to ensure some memorable things happen.

I wonder if the first season at the new place will get any media attention or if from a league and media standpoint it will just be buisness as usual like nothing happened.

Yes and it’s a funny feeling.
I'm visiting England in July, I've included a night in Liverpool just so I can see Goodison one last time, and do the tour (which I've never done) if tours are still going on then, Ideally I'd like to tour both grounds, I know it's probably not going to happen this time but I'd like to see my stone on Everton way doubt it will be opened by then.. A very Everton themed visit to Liverpool, although I asked the Misses to sort out the hotel with just 1 caveat that it wasn't too close to Anfield, so away she went found a great value deal... The Shankly hotel, she said the look of disappointment on my face when she told me what hotel she'd booked was immense, In her defense she knows nothing about Liverpool FC.

Can we bring big dunc out of retirement? Register him as a player for the final home game and bring him on with 10 minutes to go? Get the ball in the box and have him head one home infront of the Gwlady's Street one last time? :)
