FIFA proposes new rules to Football

I never said it was perfect… but has it stopped you watching over the years ?

No but its pissed me off for many years and has always been a glaring flaw in how the sport is officiated. How many times have fans moaned about time wasting and Fergie time etc ? an awful lot. No more moaning about bias towards big teams (with regard to stoppage time), no more 'play on until Liverpool score' etc

The other changes I can fully understand people being against but there are no downsides I can think of to having the clock stop when the ball is out of play. All it does is make things fairer and kill time wasting.

The Clock stopping when ball is out of play should 100% be a thing and its pathetic that its taken this long to actually be considered.

I wouldn't be overly bothered about thrown ins being taken with feet either, it would have zero negative effect on my enjoyment of the sport although im not really sure what the point of it is. I might even take to 5 min suspensions for yellows as well if it helps stop snide challenges. Unlimited subs can get in the bin.

People will lose their mind over this stuff though, sport fans hate change.

Let them properly Interpretate and enforce the ones they have first.

Yes to clock stopping, no to the rest, maybe unlimited subs in cup games, say 3 in normal time and then an extra 3/4 in extra time

Have the yanks taken over the game ffs? They'll be doubling the size of the goals next.

30 mins per half? Even if they demand a commensurate drop in pay and reduce gate fees to reflect a diminishing product thats still a naff idea.

In fact they're all naff ideas, but todays world if full of nomarks in a job desperate to make a pointless, unwanted or unnecessary change so they have something to put onto a cv.

Am so glad I've outgrown my interest in what was a beautiful game.
Didn't they want the goals stretching for the World Cup in the US? Can see a time when teams bring on a free kick specialist, penalty takers and a goalkeeper who specialises in saving penalties... special teams to defend a one nil lead for the last 15 minutes...and a new version of football like The Hundred.

Every time the clock gets stopped and gets reset you will be getting adverts. That's the road this leads to.

This is all to get more Yanks and the Overwatch/PUBG/Twitch streamer generation interested.

Change it to 3 periods and swap the pitch and ball for ice and a puck and you basically have hockey.

Put a wood floor over the pitch, swap the goal for a hoop and you have basketball. Fill the pitch with water and suddenly you have water polo.

What is it you're trying to say here? And how do these proposed changes appeal to Americans any more or less than anyone else? Though to be fair, I would be shocked if they didn't use the stoppage in time to introduce ads, as is the case in US sports. But what makes you think US viewers like that?
