Indeed.
If the medals used for fraudulent purposes there are existing laws about gaining money under false pretences.
But these politicians are calling it the "Walter Mitty" law and want the type of pathetic person you refer to put in jail for wearing a medal, even he ain't trying to defraud money from someone.
"Contemptible fantasists" is the term one of the people lobbying to make this a law used for them.
And military medals aren't only awarded for gallantry or heroics......most the ones you see are campaign medals.
Where will that leave the Queen when she dresses up for Trooping the Colour![]()
Well she's not saying she's a soldier when she's wearing that stuff is she?
It's heavily implied that she's wearing them as part of the ceremony because the ceremony dictates that she wears them, not because she's a current or former soldier. It's the Queen, we all know who she is and she isn't claiming to be something she's not
Bit different from some loser sticking on a couple of medals to impress the grannies at the local village fete isn't it?
I mean, I'm not a soldier, couldn't be one and would never want to be one. But if I was and someone else was pretending they were and were wearing medals they didn't earn, I reckon I'd be pretty wound up over it in all honesty
Not sure we need a whole new law for it like, but I definitely think it's scummy behaviour
