The 90s finished my dad off as a supporter, and he used to go home and away for years. I offered to buy him a season ticket a few years back but he politely declined. Hope that doesn't happen to myself.

anyway, this isn't as bad as the 90s. Yet.

Same for my old man, he never goes any more. Took him to two games last year, when we lost against Reading in the cup and when we drew against Birmingham. Safe to say he wasn't happy.

I think right now currently is my worst time of supporting us.

Smith was bad as was Walker but at least back then with a good management change and some smart investment we always had the chance to get back into the big time so to speak.

Right now I am seeing no real future for us. We wont fade into oblivion or anything and more than likely will remain a top flight side (though thats at risk I reckon) but I'm just not seeing us getting back up to the top of the pile ever unless football eats itself and we have to change the way the game is run today.

Or we get a billionaire of course, but even then we aint as appealing as some. Our seemingly luddite approach to football is both commendable and a burden at the same time.

This thread in particular has said everything I've been thinking and feeling inside recently. I grew up in West Derby and used to peddle my Chipper bike, over what is now the Shankly Fields, to Bellefield and watch the lads train. It was great growing up in the 1980's.. bantering with ya mini-Kopite mates and Leeds Glory Hunters. But these days, I dread going the game, the once tingling butterflies of anticipation and excitement of walking towards the Old Lady and taking in the sights, smells and colours are now replaced with a low, sullen like depression. I just don't want to be there some days, but I have a season ticket and have to be.

In these times of austerity, I have a sudden realisation coming up. Pay to go and watch us lay down and roll over against Fulham and see another season die before my eyes or pay my car tax for another six months ?I think the car may win. There was a time when I'd look at the fixture list at the start of the season and invariably look for the marquee games: The Derbys, "The Sky 4/5" games at home and who we played on the last day of the season. "Yes , Get in..Chelsea den Man U at home..nice !". Now, my stomach knots at the sight of anyone from Stoke City to Tottenham. There was even a time that I even wasn't arsed about Manchester City, "Cum on -they're ****e, we can do deese" !! Now, I even worry about Wigan !

But the one game now that really scares me is this years derby at Klanfield. We are Gash . The Reds are even gasher. But they can play when required. They have the armoury to do the job if they can just get it to click. At the moment they are like a drowning man flaying his arms about, blaming everyone but themselves for their recent form - But sooner or later, like a wounded animal they are going to suddenly sit up and give some one a hiding. It may be a fluke and every contentious decision goes there way ( like the Clattenberg derby did) but I just fear its going to be us who feels the brunt of it.

I don't mind taking a hiding, I think we deserve it the way we are playing, it may be the wake up call we need - I just pray to God, it's not from those G*b Shytes :(

The thing is in the 90s we had the dogs of war, Horne Parkinson etc this lot couldnt get in a battle with themselves, if you look at the table and fixtures now its very worrying, we are 7 points above the bottom three. Out of our next 7 league games

City
Wigan
Chelsea
Sh1te
QPR
Spurs
Arsenal

I really cant see anymore than a possible 7 points out of these games so come the last week of march potentially we could be in the bottom three or thereabouts, our last two games away at Wolves they will be batlling to stay up and finally the geordies at home and they will probably be going for europe. It looks bleak can someone please pick me up from this and give me something positive.

This looks very bleak. And looking back on our last 5 homes games against Stoke, Norwich, Swansea, Bolton and Blackburn we've only taken 5 points. That's atrocious.

As I grew up in the 90s I only ever expected us to be fending off relegation. Went to Wimbledon and Coventry but expected nothing better. Having seen Moyes transform us to allow us to challenge top 4/6 while playing decent football, to now see our bitter downward turn, watching sh*te football and struggling against everyone, I think that this is the most depressed I've felt about the club. To think how optimistic we were 18 months ago is unreal. Don't get me wrong, its a question of perception cos i dont think that this is the worst side, its based on expectancy... Having said that, watching this cheered me up a tad.
