I too fail to see what the fuss is about. Whenever I see Moyes on television or read his words in print the one thing that strikes me most of all about the man is his integrity. I get the overwhelming feeling that he's a good guy who goes about his work with honesty and candour. I have no qualms about leaving the moral stewardship of our club in his hands.
The same applies to Phil Neville, our captain. He's not born and bred Everton but he's from the same stock as Moyes and I think now he's probably as much an Evertonian as he is a Manc, if not more so. I feel confident that he would tell Moyes if he thinks a new arrival might mess up the dressing room. As would Cahill, or Carsley, or Yobo. We have a team full of leaders and of generally good guys.
We don't know all the facts of this situation, they do. If you're going to kick up a stink then you are essentially saying that you either know more than Moyes et al do or that you think they're numpties. I doubt anyone here really believes either of those so lets leave the managing to Moyes and not falling into the Toon trap of thinking we know it all.
This is it in a nutshell. Great post Bruce and very good observations about our dressing room and that we have players that probably would let Moyes know in no uncertain terms if a player he were to possibly bring in could cause problems. Not saying that Moyes makes all of his decisions based on player input. Far from it. But Moyes has the dressing room right where he wants it and I'm positive that the last thing he wants to do is to upset that camararderie that has developed over the years.
Me? I want Fernandes back here. I want him back here now. I don't care about the people who think he "screwed the club over." Hell, he screwed himself over more than us. Look at his current situation. And NO ONE knows EXACTLY what happened to cause him to go to Valencia vs. Everton. NO ONE does and to those who are basing their "we don't want him back" opinions on what they know are doing it with INCOMPLETE information. Not a good way to base an opinion.
If there was ever a player who might want a second chance and a chance to put things right, Manny would be high on the list if not at the top of the list.
I watched enough of Manny last year to know that he could help us, and more than just 10 minutes of a match. He would give us the creative edge we need in midfield. He'd chip in with a few goals. He take a bit of the load off of Arteta.
In short, he's EXACTLY what we need in midfield right now. More than another RB, more than another striker, more than another "Carsley replacement."
WE NEED A CREATIVE MIDFIELDER. Period. Manny fits the bill.
I think Moyes would bring him in on loan and make him prove himself all over again. Not just to Moyes, management, and players. But to the supporters as well. And if anyone has anything to prove to anyone, it's one Manny Fernandes.
I say let him come back, let him do his thing, and let the chips fall where they may. It can't hurt Everton FC.
