Ferguson Caretaker Manager

Can’t wait until this time next season, when King Duncan’s Super Bloo Army™️ is heading into the second half of the season unbeaten, 13 points clear at the top and odds on favourites to win our first title in 35 years.

Playing such scintillating football that even the likes of Dave have been enticed into going the game again.

I wanna see scenes like this, weekly….

Run themselves in to the ground.. same tactic as last time.
Good! Most of these players have been walking/jogging around for 4/5 years now. One of the main reasons we are where we are right now is that we are constantly outworked by poorer opposition, who beat us easily because of this. Hard work and actually running around is the least we should expect. We would be comfortably mid table by now if we actually worked hard.

Not a tactic. An expectation of effort.

Yes, we will have to find ways to conserve energy and change patterns of play - particularly in future games. But we are going into arrest and need a massive jump-start. The kind of effort we saw last time he took charge and a vociferous Goodison crowd could make the difference against a Villa side who somehow have managed to have a lot more good players in it than ours.

We'll see what happens in future games if Ferguson remains in charge. But for now he is 100% right to state that expectation.

I like Ferguson, but in that sentimental Everton way it shouldn't come into it.

I was impressed with how he carried himself in his last stint as caretaker, he spoke with thoughtfulness and maturity. He represented the club in the manner I want it to be represented by the manager in dealings with the media and others.

I have no doubt he understands the anger and passion of the fans.

On the other hand, he has been associated with a succession of failed regimes now. He can't carry the can for that but at any point did he not consider it best to separate himself from this and try to develop a coaching/management career on his own initiative? Like getting jobs and succeeding at them by his own merit? Doing the normal progression through the leagues. Then being a contender for the job here by his own record.

As much as he brings a sense of passion and fist-pumping which we badly need, this comfort zone that he inhabits does not sit well with me. If he is not a contender for the job this time around, then it's becoming incredulous that he stays on yet again under another manager. If he was happy to stay on, then I think it proves a point. There is a huge difference between a temporary caretaker role and the white heat of the managers seat in a permanent role, not that that means anything for this club.

All that said, I will be willing him and the team on this Saturday and every other game with all I've got. I don't think I've enjoyed and felt as good after a game as I did for the Chelsea game since Martinez' first season. Give us some more of that and he can hold his head high.
Now or never really. Agree with all of that.

I love Dunc I have no doubt that given the opportunity he would keep us up and that is all we are looking at right now, no rash decisions needed, while he manages on the pitch the board need to get real off it forget Jose Nuno all the rest of them lets build inhouse and we'll all unite. The 12th man is the support its only gonna happen this way

I'm fine with Dunc at the helm for an extended period of time so we have time to make a solid, long-term appointment instead of rushing into the next doomed era. The challenge is actually finding someone with a solid, long-term vision for us and the ability to carry it out. Maybe big Dunc has what it takes, and maybe he doesn't, but we've been down the Big Sam emergency hire path before, and I don't feel a need to relive that.
