Fellaini's best performance

Bren lad everything's sound lad. You can stop windmilling now ffs.

I could sit here and say 'I think he's better from what i have seen of him' but we'll get nowhere with that, so instead here are some numbers which i think back up my statement that Leiva is a good (if not great) holding midfielder:

It may surprise you to hear this, but with Liverpool FC having played 33 games this season, with only 5 games remaining, Lucas Leiva is still Liverpool’s top tackler.

If Lucas had continued at that rate he would have around 216 tackles attempted for the season. In fact, when you look at the last 2 full seasons that would have put Lucas at having attempted nearly 50 tackles more than his nearest rival.

We can also see that Lucas tops the list of players who are most efficient at keeping possession of the ball. Extremely important in the modern game. Lucas only lost possession every 5.54 passes he attempted, in context, player of the year nominee Scott Parker loses possession every 5.99 passes, and Michael Carrick only every 7.25 passes he attempts.

This brings us to loss of possession. Lucas has lost possession only three, yes 3, times in 10 league games. Now again to put this into perspective, Carrick started one match and lost possession as many times as Lucas. Mikel and Song are the closest to him with 8 and 9 respectively. Next up is Karl Henry with 11, Parker with 12 and Tioté with 15.

To consider that Michael Essien played 2801′ last season and made just 48 tackles, winning 41; was involved in 321 ground 50/50′s winning 180 (56%) and 53 aerial 50/50′s winning 29 (55%). In each of these categories Lucas significantly out produced the Chelsea man. In that same season Scott Parker played 2737′ for West Ham making 122 tackles and winning 94 (77%). Parker was winning tackles at a better rate than Lucas but Lucas attempted 50 more tackles in just 80′ more. Further, Parker was involved in just 386 ground 50/50′s and 24 aerial 50/50′s winning 206 (53%) and 8 (33%), respectively. Lucas won at a higher rate and contested 513 and 123 or 127 more ground 50/50′s and 99 more aerial 50/50′s than the former West Ham player.

There's plenty more where that came from (including his solid pass success rate) but i can't be arsed posting it all.

Lucas is dog sh*t lad.

Yes he has made loads of tackles but if we put Phil Neville in CM all season he would make tons of tackles and safe passes.

Safe passes ? There are more stats which show he makes a higher number of defensive third to final third passes than Frank Lampard as well, but as Chico points out, i didn't want to go full statto at 2am.

Lucas was absolute crap to begin with as any Kopite will tell you but this season (before his injury) and the second half of 2010/11 are a completely different story.

Well I disagree statto.

'Oh snap, he's gone and posted cold hard facts again. Quick, divert DIVERT !'

I'm going to make some grub, please have something better than that for when i get back.

xx

You posted stats with Mascherano and Danny Murphy in it.

Excuse me while I pour utter scorn on your clearly made up by Kopites stats.

Some of you are seriously suggesting that Fellaini is better than Lucas?

Do you watch football? We're all Evertonians but sometimes we have to put our hands up and concede.
