Can't blame him if he leaves, and to be honest, Baines, Jags and even Jelly next season. Players want to win things and if they see we are not likely to buy anyone then I'd be off too. 30m from Chelsea, Real or Milan might allow us to keep baines if moyes is given most of the money to reinvest....as long as he doesn't buy any russians

Pretty sure there he's clearly saying he's happy at Everton but if a big champions league side comes in (or chelsea) then he may be leaving.

Otherwise he's happy at Everton -- pretty much stating that he doesnt want to leave but if an acceptable offer comes in then he wouldnt reject it.

Not sure whats wrong with that at all.

Yep.

It's like saying you're happy with your current job but if somebody offered you the same job in a better country with a higher wage you wouldn't say no. Common sense really. As others have said he could have ****ed us off and not signed a new deal at all.

I think people are getting carried away with the contract he signed and the supposed implication that he did it to protect our interests.

I'm sure £75k a week and another signing on fee might have had something to do with it. Especially as, although his talent was obvious to me and other more discerning football watchers, he hadn't exactly established himself at the time.

Yes he had, everybody was ecstatic when he signed that deal.

Closer to £90k mate

In the Everton side he had, I mean more among the wider footballing public.

I live in manchester and two years ago Fellaini was seen as an untalented, more lcumsy Peter Crouch, now united and city fans alike are all saying they want him at their clubs.

Don't think so mate. Fairly sure all our ITKs said at the time that it was basically the same as Arteta's contract, 70-75k.

That would seem correct initially, however '5 year deals' don't actually run for 5 years, they usually run until the end of the fifth season. Because he signed in November the contract runs until the Summer of 2016.

20m / 241 weeks = £83k a week (plus bonuses)

241 weeks would be the 30th of June, which is when player contracts expire as far as i'm aware.

......

His release clause says it all in the contract.

In that interview he is basically saying: "Everton have told me I can leave, but they sold me on higher wages until they can get a good fee for me which will happen eventually. And I'm not going to rock the boat because that will decrease the transfer fee and I already know when and how Everton are going to let me go."
