If he goes to a Champions League club what are we moaning for, he deserves it

+1, I think his is head and shoulders about the rest of our team and is by a country mile my favourite player in a blue shirt. However we need to be pragmatic.

If the offer comes in for the right price (from the right club even) he is gone. And the same could be said for 99% of other clubs in the world. That's football folks, he is not Steve Bull ffs.

I said before he signed his contract that he could of easily walked out on a free, I said I just hope he signs a new contract just so that when a Real Madrid or AC Milan come in for him we can get top dollar. He signed and shown his class, ensuring EFC got money if he were to leave. If he goes to one of those clubs I will wish him well and thank him for what he's done and fume at Everton that we can't keep and build a team around fabulous players.

Oh and Steve Bull was a great striker

Exactly. Unless you are Real Madrid or Barcelona you will have to put up with other clubs poaching your best players. It even happened to Utd over Ronaldo. Fellaini doesn't owe us anything and if he gets to play Champs League and we sell him for a profit, then you can't blame him. Same goes for Baines.

It's ok to say NSNO and all that and claim we should be winning the league but its just not realistic, unless something drastic happens to the club's finances we will never be able to afford to keep our best players or to offer them regular European football.

This all day long. I just hope WHEN he goes it will be somewhere outside the premiership. I'd be mortified seeing him play against us.

3 scenarios comes into me mind.

# he leaves to chelsea (or real etc..) after they pay good bucks. we cry n fuu. slowly accept the reality. blaming finger points towards board not willing/cabable of bringing enough quality in to keep him happy.

# he stays with us after moyes convinces him to stay, soon he will realize there will not be any reinforcements and team cant perform like we all would want. he leaves in next window.

# he will stay, baines will be sold, we get dough and buy good players, we play great and win everything. simples

:)

please stay Fellaini
dude we love you

There's four players in our squad who could comfortably start in, and improve, a champions league team. Baines, Fellaini, Heitinga and Jelavic. Given that, why would they want to stay at a mid table team who don't even challenge for Europe let alone trophies.

Nobody could blame any of those four players for leaving and frankly within two years all four will have done.

Would love for him to stay, but can't blame him if he improves his situation. Would hope that we could acquire a few players and build with him, but I also hope for world peace.

World class player playing in a team that can't fulfill his ambitions. Never saw this coming. Seriously though, I feel sick.

Pretty sure there he's clearly saying he's happy at Everton but if a big champions league side comes in (or chelsea) then he may be leaving.

Otherwise he's happy at Everton -- pretty much stating that he doesnt want to leave but if an acceptable offer comes in then he wouldnt reject it.

Not sure whats wrong with that at all.

This will be a defining season in terms of how we end up in the next few years. Felli is crucial in this.

I always knew Fellaini would leave if he ever started to reach his potential. He's now reaching his potential and the big clubs are taking notice. But at least Fellaini has given us a chance to make money in the process. He didn't have to sign that new contract. Much respect to him for that. If he does end up at Chelsea, Madrid or someone else, I'll be happy for him. Can't expect a world class player to stay at Everton when we can't offer him European football.

Speaking of the money, if we got £26 mill, would it really be a horrible thing if we used a good chunk of that to pay off some of our "bad" debts? It's certainly not a sexy thing and might send a bad message to the players and supporters but these bad debts have seriously hurt our ability to compete financially in the last few years. The lack of any kind of long-term vision by the board has put us in this position. We have no money, no credit, bad debts, no way to improve/move from Goodison, no way to improve turnover (due to deals like Kitbag). Hell, we're even paying £1 mill a year to use our own training facilities. Maybe it's time to start thinking long-term instead of hoping for a billionaire to swoop down and save us from the horrors of mid-table mediocrity. Maybe if we pay off some of these bad debts, our credit will get better and we can actually use our turnover to improve the health of the club.
