“He never, ever cuts corners and never moans,†said club captain Phil Neville.
“He is first into training and loves his work. He is totally driven and a top, top player. He goes box to box and he must be a manager’s dream.
“He has immersed himself in Everton’s culture.
“A couple of years ago we went on a mid-season break to France and the plan was for us all to travel in tracksuits. But I told Felli he needed to come in his club suit, complete with shirt and tie. When he turned up, he knew straight away he’d been stitched up and everyone burst out laughing but he took it brilliantly.
“The lads love him and we know the fans do, too, because we see them wearing those afro wigs for him everywhere we go.â€

Fell swoop?: Chelsea to continue summer spree with move for Everton star
Big-spending Blues want a midfield enforcer as part of their overhaul and it's understood Fellaini could be available for £20million.
Roman Abramovich is ready to take his summer spending to the £100m mark with a £20million swoop for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
Chelsea have already spent big in recent weeks by signing Lille's Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard for £32m and Germany midfielder Marko Marin from Werder Bremen for £8m.
They are closing in on Porto's Brazil international forward Hulk in a £38m deal, too.
But the new European champions also want a midfield enforcer and Fellaini tops their list of candidates.
Everton defender Phil Jagielka admitted at the weekend that they would struggle to keep Fellaini, and it is understood the Toffees will sell for around £20m.
But having to sell the Belgian could be devastating for Everton, who are also in danger of losing left-back Leighton Baines to Manchester United for £15m and have seen Tim Cahill linked with a move to the Middle East.
Chelsea also want a new right-back, with Ajax’s Gregory van der Wiel heading the wanted list.
