if you had asked me last january who my top 5 players were at Everton it would have been Baines, Pienaar, Bily, Arteta, and Cahill.

with Arteta and Pienaar gone, Bily going, and Cahill doing nothing in particular to excite me in the last year, i took a look at our squad, and realised apart from Baines, none of the Everton players excite me much. Barkley, Vellios, and Gueye give me hope for our next generation team, but in the current first team squad who excites you more than cheese on toast? (baines excluded - too easy)

I like it when Distin runs his fastest, getting in his way would be a big mistake.
I like Drenthe's all round attitude to football and being a team.
I like Fellaini's hair and that he works hard.

I don't dislike any of our players, fair enough Straq isn't good enough and is only being used because our situation is currently terrible but even he puts a shift in when he gets game time, i think things are just stale, if i was Moyes then i'd say **** it and drop the entire starting 11, i'd then tell the players that whoever works hardest in training regardless of ability will be in the squad and see what happens.

Just read my post over and needed to correct something, i do actually dislike Saha, he needs to seek pastures new.

Bily was one of the few players I thought had the potential to do smoething special

Now that he's gone, I guess we have Rossy when/if he gets a game.

Aside from him, I don't think I'm ever excited to see any one particular player on the ball. Sad, really.

I would struggle to think of more than two players who should be guaranteed a place.

Tim Howard and Leighton Baines. Then I would start Drenthe and Gueye every game and build the team around talent, not defensive atributes. What do I know, I work at asda godammit!

I have seen more of the youth team this season than the first team, when I have watched the first team I have thought that Baines, Drenthe, Jags and Distin have been promising. However why some of the youth lads havent been given a proper chance is beyond me, Velios is a goal scoring powerhouse and definetely has got the talent to be a premiership player. I spoke to my cousin (Tranmere fan) he said Baxter did alright for them but nothing special. I would like to see Saha dropped and Velios played upfront with Donovan playing off him with Royston supplying from the wing. It will make a big difference when Seamus Coleman is back because he is a battler which is just what we need at the moment. IMIDT (In Moyes I DONT Trust)
