Defoe’s friendship with Bradley Lowery was one of the most moving things I’ve seen in the sport, the delight on Bradley’s face whenever he saw him was so pure and Jermaine was wonderful in an incredibly difficult emotional situation that a pampered footballer could so easily have avoided.

Since thinking of Bradley always brings on waterworks for me I’m going to try to distract by posting my favorite Crouch tweet - hard not to like a guy who can poke fun at himself like this.

That's what I liked about him. Such an underrated player. I remember pre-WC 2010 and the kopite/geordie element of England's support were saying no German player would get in the England team. I reeled off 7 players including Klose and got ridiculed. People were saying Jermain Defoe would get in ahead of him.

He's Germany's all time leading goal scorer, which is no mean feat considering all the amazing strikers they've had. And the all time leading WC goalscorer. Not bad at all

Well done mate

Player I never saw play: Pele
Player I have seen play: Toss up between Beckenbauer or Cruff - as they could play any position they wanted and excel.
Player I wish I'd never EVER seen play: Ian Rush

Hated Cantona until he Kung Fu kicked that fat whelk, after that gained my respect and became one of my all time favourites.
