It's pleasing to know that for every Romelu Lukaku type self absorbed footballer out there, there is a James Maddison.

"Long story short.... when he was still at Norwich, he became firm friends with a young girl named Sophie who had been a Norwich mascot and who had been diagnosed with bone cancer (she subsequently had to have a leg amputated). Sadly, Sophie passed away aged 5 in January this year. Sophie and Maddison had stayed in regular touch after his transfer to Leicester last year, and it's clear that they adored each other. He was a pallbearer at her funeral, and spoke at the service. The story can be found at https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/james-maddison-sophie-taylor-tribute-1-5941765

The Twitter account that was run by Sophie's parents, before and since her passing, makes regular reference to the support that James Maddison gave to Sophie. That account is at https://twitter.com/SuperStrongSoph

Sophie would have had her 6th birthday at the end of July. It was a tweet from Maddison (click below) to mark that occasion which was what made me aware of this story, which is very similar to that of Jermaine Defoe and Bradley Lowery at Sunderland. Well done, James Maddison."

Joe Cole.. any team he played for was my second team.. was also a big fan of Scott Parker.

First player I remember supporting was Gullit.. soon followed by Van Basten.. hated the Argentinian team but liked Batistuta...

Current players I have huge respect for De Bruyne.. had a dream we could bring him back from germany... crazy in hindsight.
