Brands strikes me as the kind of bozo who tells the werld all about his misfortunes but not once acknowledges his poor performances.

Moshiri has of course had agents in his ear / Kenwright but in the early years of Brands tenure he was given around £200 millions to spend and Richarlison/Digne aside largely squandered it on misfits.

…surely you now understand Brands was not solely responsible for bringing in footballers. Managers brought in players, Kenwright brought in players, even Moshiri brought in players.

In that statement, Brands objected to Rondon but Moshiri said “he was a gift for Benitez”. Therein lies the problem. I’m of a view that Brands was largely responsible for keeping the club afloat. its clearly been the worst business model for any football club.

Didn't know that. What went wrong then, as I seem to remember our profile wasn't the best.

The Big 5 back then was us, RS, United, Arsenal and iirc, Spurs.

They saw TV money in other sports, and set up a break away league, to negotiate a new leagues deal. Was ITV iirc, then the battle between 2 new satellite TV companies resulted in Sky being formed.

What went wrong? Well, we won a cup a few years after the whole thing started, but, imo, the club never really got the idea that this new league would be pretty good. Similar things happened to amateur Rugby clubs when they went professional. Some grasped the idea, some thought cos they were an historic club, (Bristol), that all they needed to do was do the same as they always did.

It all could've been so different then if only we'd grasped the opportunity and not rested on our laurels. Maybe then this should be the officially recognised time or chronological marker that identifies when the ROT SET IN!

The running of Everton post-Moores was shambolic and lacked any long-term thinking. The Park End is a monument to their lack of foresight. When everyone else was building new stands with corporate facilities, Carter & Co built a single tier stand on the cheap with no thought about future expansion

Hindsight is a brilliant thing, and a fuzzy memory does not help, but no one at the time the PL started had a clue about the riches it would generate nearly 30 years later. Pre internet dont forget. The concept of owning a football club for actual profit was an alien one. But, again with hindsight, out of the founding 5, Everton were the least glamourous, even then.

The owners of United, for example, (local business family, the Edwards), nearly sold the club to Michael Knighton for £10m, not for profit, but cos they were fed up with the grief. Fast forward, Glazers selling for £6 Billion. For profit. After 18 years of grief.

The Taylor report build? That was Johnson wasnt it?

Moshiri and Kenwright were last seen at a game at West Ham away.
The last time Moshiri was at Goodison was for the 2-5 shellacking we got by Watford... last season !!
Kenwright and the rest of the board were last in attendance at Goodison 1-4 spanking by Brighton on Jan 3rd.
Yeah Franks last game, with interesting seating arrangements.
Moshiri has never seen a Sean Dyche Everton side play.

At least Mike Ashley turned up

If i remember correctly he bought the club while the build was happening and wasn't happy with it.

He tried to move the club to a new ground on Kirkby Golf Course which Kenwright paid money to campaigners to keep the club in the city limits.

Cant remember mate.

And then tried to move it to Kirkby himself when he was the owner. If there ever was a perfect example of his duplicity then that was it.

He wasn't "solely" however he likes to portray to the media that he didn't bring any of the failed signings in. He's ultimately a spin doctor.

The media can highlight Moshiri giving Benitez a wee gift in Rondon on a free transfer but they don't bother to put the question to Brands that had he not played a part in the wastage of £265+ millions on signings over 3 summer windows then maybe the owner could have "gifted" Benitez with a decent £30 millions CF rather than a free transfer who was on his last legs.

if you're on about brands he should have reigned at the first sign of dillusion like Ryatsanev did:

No one’s arsed if he turns up or not - the owner of Enic, barely turns up to Spurs….it’s down to Levy to oversee the day to day operations. He just needs to oversee things properly which I agree he does not
