Indeed. Almost any owners want to maximize profit of their asset. Abramovich was a rare breed and just had money to play with. Though in the end he made a lot of money off the sale.

You do have to wonder about the timing of our money drying up and us suddenly trying to squeeze within FFP rules, when apparently we were paying no attention to them previously. Was Farhad planning to take the city/psg approach of just brazening out the spending with dubious sponsorship deals from Usmanov? But then Usmanov turns off the tap some point in 2021 when he finds out his mate Vlad is about to start a war and suddenly were struggling to do it all legit...
