I wasn't on about the start of the season, like. He looked boss then and I wanted him in the side pretty much all year and it was the main thing I had against Moyes. It's just the last few months I've only seen him play a few times and I expect him to stand out a bit as he's meant to be the big talent but I haven't seen it. Just an honest opinion, like.

That said, I reckon he's got the potential to be world class.

Was amazing last season, you've got unlucky if you've only seen a few games where he hasn't stood out. For U18s he always boss.

Maybe that's because you think 'he's Ross Barkley' and expect him to score 25 overhead kicks per game. I thought the same for a while then realised if I was watching it as a neutral I'd see how far ahead he was.

The trouble is that he's too good for the reserves or under 18s which means he tries too much. Playing with better players will make him calm down and play the simple ball a bit more.

I'm more looking for the attributes needed at attacking mid really. Through balls, looking to get shots away etc and didn't see him do much of it tonight and in the last few times I've seen him.

That's what I mean, he was always going to get into the team back in august but recently I have had the impression that he's not been as good. Not that he doesn't have the ability to be.

I agree with what you're saying Paul, i think he is gonna be a superstar for us in the future, hopefully see a fair bit of him this season coming.

Being forced to learn to tackle after one bad tackle against Blackburn(?) seems to have knocked his confidence. No surprise there. Coaching that flair out of him.

To me he looks very (dare I say it?) GerrardESK..................awaits the flames of hell to decend

I have watched his first game highlights and think he will be our central midfield for the future. unbelievable how good his style looks for one so young. I remember watching gerrard come through and honestly if he competes on a physical level with steven he can go on to be better

I think that when I see him play. Gerrard struggled initially when he broke onto the scene. I think people expect a finished article at 18.

Not sure if it was part of the England team plan, but didn't seem to track back at all. When he was attacking though he looked extremely direct. Could see why moyes would be reluctant to involve him more.

no he wont la he's a greedy lil so and so few of the boys round huyton and old swan i know went to school with him and he told them flat out unless everton got better and were in champions leahue he'd leave first chance he got this was last year or the year before he said so i doubt he's changed his mind

I've thought he's been a bit quiet in pretty much every game I've seen him in recently tbh. Perhaps I've not been watching the right games over the last few months but he's not really impressed me.

He will be a player, he wasnt ready for first team football this season at goodison, moyes knows what he's doing. its no coincidence hes playing for the under 19s not the 21s, he missed a lot of development at that level and needs it

He was the best player on the pitch for both sides Everton vs QPR.

im not disagreeing with that, he had a fantastic game, i think he did ok in all his appearences but hes not ready for a run in the first team, least he wasnt last season. he rarely completes 90 mins for the england youth sides and although he's one of the better players he doesnt boss the games to the extent youd think he would. personally i would have sent him on loan last season to a decent championship club to get some games under his belt. dont get me wrong, he will be a fantastic player im just saying i trust moyes' judgement on when he plays for us at the moment
