Fans who don't "get" our club

He's one of us. A lifelong blue. And I respect him for it and will thank him for his service when he does go.

Genuine question to you, when he does go he stands to make 45 million. As a lifelong blue like yourself, do you have any problem with that?

I get a bit sick of all the sniping at Kenwright to be honest. Sure, he hasn't put the money in that people would have liked, or found somebody quicker who has?

But so what?

I tell you what, I met the bloke in the late '90s, when I was sat next to him in a small theatre, and I had a good long chat about Everton with him. I can tell you now, the man is the most genuine, dyed-in-the-wool blue you could hope to meet. It was patently obvious that he CARED.

So what would you have rather had in? Some foreign asset-stripper who'd come in and rape the club before doing one? Maybe some guy who didn't know where Goodison was a few years ago, let alone dancing in the fountain after the '68 FA Cup final.

Whatever the shortcomings of Mr Kenwright, he's never tried to make a fast buck by selling us out to some fly-by-night shyster.

Everton, that.

I would endorse much of that.

Bill is sound......he used to travel on the ESCLA train in the 80s when I lived down there.

Always ready to join in the craic.....sorted some of us out with comp tickets for Blood Brothers a time.

He would have paid the taxi up to Bramall Lane or Hillsborough if you jumped a cab with him in Sheffield, or at other towns and cities.

And this is what makes Bill's role in this fiasco all the worse in my eyes.

I have only thought badly of Bill in the last month or so........first up he should have been acting to fire Bobby before Anfield.

As a True Blue himself, he should have had the same instincts as most of us had and known we needed some kind of a boost after the run of poor results leading up to Saints at home.

That could only have came through putting someone else in temporary charge ahead of that crucial week.

He didn't act then.....and now he has left Roberto totally isolated, clearly out of his depth, out of excuses and out of time.

Yet Bill has let him endure this humiliation.

Rumour has it Bobby will be put out of his misery later today.

IMO it is time for Bill to exit stage left along with him

Fankly, no, not really. Whenever someone sells their interest in a football club, if they can they will make a profit. Should he be any different?

Of course, in an ideal world he'd give back the 45 million and say 'There, get a striker', but who is ever going to do that?

He's made a bit of money in the end (and to be honest, in those rareified climes, 45 mil isn't a fortune. It is to ME, but that's another story), but he hasn't asset-stripped the club to do it.

Yes, he has managed the Martinez saga badly, but look how many other managers have hung around well past their sell-by date. Rodgers, Mourinho, even Clough in his last, sad, season at Forest. The man doesn't deserve some of the abuse he gets on the basis of that.

I still maintain he derves our respect. I shall afford him that, anyone else may make their own arrangements.

trouble is bill very much enjoys that stage, always has the egomaniac

He does deserve our respect, absolutely. I would point out to you though that Moores never profited from our club, his son did over at Liverpool. He's not welcome there anymore apparently. I think there's other examples in football too.

You see, Everton to me isn't something I would look to profit from. It's for want of a better word, love. I love my club. Making money out of that is anathema to me. Now if I was a businessman, which I am by the way. I have no problem with making money.

It's a personal opinion I guess and not indicative of anyone's character. Thanks for the reply.

I'll give you that one, absolutely. Old John Moores was one of a kind, a very special guy. Football is the poorer for his kind not being around any more. Cut from the same cloth as the likes of Bob Lord at Burnley.

I'm not for a moment putting Kenwright in his bracket. He is still, however, (I believe) more genuinely passionate about the club than 95% of modern chairmen. I'm not sanctifying him, but I won't abuse him.

However passionate he is for the club, he got lucky Moyes and escaped for one more season after he left. The complicated deal that allowed him to remain CEO despite Moshiri footing the actual bill says a lot to me about his intent.

When you move on, you should never try to look back. He did and it's holding everyone back.

but I won't abuse him

I agree 100% with this and I think he should be thanked for his service to the club.

I know the thread is about supporters and I was wondering if it was getting sidetracked but ultimately, Kenwright is a supporter and to that extent it's relevant. I think if he was to leave now, the vast majority of Evertonians would remember him that way and that's the way he should be remembered.

Maybe I'm out of touch (Im in my 40s, old enough to have seen us win stuff in the 80s and the witnessed the full horror of most of what happened after) but it really does seem like many fans just dont get what this noble club is (or should be) about.

Not sure if this is a recent thing or just social media

It's bizarre that I didn't put an age group in the OP at all if you actually read it but there are tantrums and toys going out of prams AOTS from the tots

No you didn't imply anything at all like that did you.

The problem is that he's the self proclaimed biggest blue in the world and is in the Everton hall of fame. When you put yourself on that platform then you are expected to do what someone like Jack Hayward did. There is an example who truely loved his club.
