That's pretty much where I'm at, Del.

Moyes has been banging his head against the glass ceiling of the top 4 for eleven years, we're just never going to make it. The gap in quality and finances is just too much. And even if we do, we'll need to do it consistently before it means anything.

It's the cups that are the only thing that matter and we're crap at them.

The league still matters, otherwise we might as well not bother going to watch every other week.

Its horrible because I work with a Blue whos gone the game for 30 years whos saying to me day in and day out "Whats the point"

Hes saying that we are never going to win the league and we dont have the right attitude to win a cup so why bother? What are you going the match for?

Which is why the Wigan game turned a potentially great season into only a good one. Imagine if we were playing City next Saturday with our good record against them behind us. We'd have every chance of having our 1st trophy under Moyes.

Having said that finishing 6th in the PL is a very good achievement and not to be sniffed at. It is also important financially and puts us in a position to attract decent players to the club.

Some people on here expect us to win 5-0 every week.

15 draws means we can never score 5

Totally agree mate, I tend to get the impression that the fans would get on the players back hen we've underperformed this season but a couple of seasons ago when we were a mid table side that wouldn't have been the case.

Someone agrees with me at last!

6th is great why?

Do we get into Europe?

Whats the difference from finishing 12th to 6th and dont say money because its never made a difference to Moyes spending anyway

That's not true.

We're spending a lot more on wages now we consistently finish top 6-7 then we used to. A few years in 13th and we'd have to lower our wage bill.

I'm going down that road. My dad has already stopped going for that reason. Modem football means we're only there to make up the numbers for the teams people actually want to see - united, Liverpool, Chelsea, arsenal and city. It's bad for business if other teams win anything. It is pointless we will NEVER win the league again if FFP sticks. Never.

We have done well to get where we are. But I personally think we could have done better. This should have been our year!

We may not have the millions other teams have but do have players like Distin, Jags, Fellaini and Baines who have been brilliant this year and would walk in to most top teams.

The game which sort of gave us a bit of a hmmm! And to start thinking about "well erm we could get in the top 4 here." was when we played United at Goodison last year.

After hearing that throughout the year of Management/team problems at Chelsea, inconsistency with Arsenal and Man City for all the top players they had was at times lucky to get points in games. This was our best shot because of the short comings of others. While others had problems commentators thought us brilliant at times.

We may not be a billionaire club but unlike others have stability and players who know their job, if we had been a bit more consistent I actually think this season was the first time in a long time for us to get in to the top 4.

Next season is going to be a lot more tougher. Chelsea will probably be a lot more stable and add players. I think the surprise next year is going to Arsenal I wouldn't be surprised to see Fabregas returning and if not Wenger has said he has money to spend and Cazorla is a top player.

We really needed to get 4th if we bombed out quickly in champions league next season it would be worth it to get money for transfers and to attract players for us to build.

I would like to think we will do better next season but I actually believe this should have been our year to get in to the top 4 or make it in to a cup final.

Probably. Like you said everyone else will get stronger while as we will likely lose players.

It was certainly our year for a cup final anyway. Given the utter gift of a draw we got.
