I live the cultural references, but tonight's was in your face - the only thing missing was the Sports Almanac and the Flux Capacitor.

family guy is the new simpsons, once the simpsons was cutting edge and risque, but becoming a national icon it lost its claws.

family guy although not as coarse and cutting as southpark has exquisite writing and a gag ratio that is very high.
