£5m could be reasonable, he's a top talent, certainly more ability than 99% of the lower leagues, him and Ledley could be Moyes' annual lower league superstars imo and he can only get better

Ferguson has had the Man Utd chief scout watch him on about 10 occasions last season, and he says he's going to be a quality player in the future.

I'd be delighted if we got him, so long as a good chunk of the £7m was on appearances/caps etc.

Should we be concentrating on trying to buy an unproven youth player for 7mill and wait for him to blossom in 3 years time?

Or save the cash for a better class of player?

If we signed Delph for £7m, it clearly wouldn't be a £7m lump sum though.

And tbh, signing quality young players is probably the only way we're going to end up with top class players - we just don't have the cash to buy them ready made

Its Ken Bates...he'll want a heafty chunk upfront. I knew a hardcore Leeds fan who'd been following them for 50 odd years tell me that United, Chelsea and Arsenal were all after him in the January window but didnt go ahead because he wanted too much for a lad who is playing league 1 football.

He'll be a gamble, which is why he wasnt left Leeds yet.

We'll also need to keep one eye on this 6+5/homegrown thing - we've got plenty of promising kids coming through, but by most accounts this Delph's something extra special, 7m may very easily start to seem like a bargain for top young English talent in a year or two...

Could be a part of an immense midfield core with Rodwell & Fellaini for years...

Ive liked what ive seen for him, if Moyesy feels hes worth 7 mill he prob is.

From what ive seen hes an all round midfilder with the ability to muck in ad close down players and space and his positional sense is good. He also has the quality on the ball to stand on it an knock it around. Hes a very good athlete and has the potential to cover a lot of ground and get through a good bit of work, Felli was immense at times during the season, but was often caught for pace and an athlete somone in beside him with better legs wo would compliment his stature, retention and who can also pentrate to compliment him would do wonders for our midfiled, i still feel we need to more dominent centrally and i would be on the look out for a Delph, Mbia type of player.

I think the strngth of the Euro at the moment may see us priortise the Uk market maybe more then we have in recent seasons.
