Welcome back Wayne
From the BBC....

Warning: This report contains offensive language.

Greg Clarke has resigned as Football Association chairman following the language he used when talking to MPs about diversity.
Clarke used the term "coloured footballers" in a reference to black players when talking to members of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee.

He apologised after being prompted to say sorry by MP Kevin Brennan.

Clarke had been talking via video link about the racist abuse of players by trolls on social media.

"People can see if you're black and if they don't like black people because they are filthy racists, they can abuse you anonymously online," he said.

Plus his comments about Asians in IT, gay being a lifestyle choice, and 'girls' not liking footballs kicked at them. There was no real option for someone who's supposed to be leading change and engagement with the national game. Excited to see how long it takes for certain papers go trawling for one or two black players who disagree with this decision.

Only saw it briefly, but the media asked Tyrone Mings for his thoughts. Think he said ' Ive only just heard this, how would you like it if I asked you about your boss being sacked' a##eholes

Awaits first sighting of John Barnes.

He used the outdated term whilst actually sticking up for black players but he apologised and explained that he used the term because of his work in the USA where the term is not frowned upon so that makes it very harsh IMO.

Oh well, even if they ain't qualified enough for the job at least it will give a non white person more of a chance of of getting a top job in what I would guess is a mainly white industry at that high level?

He said a few other questionable things like. But yes I share your view on it overall.

But it's the society we live in isn't it. Perpetual outrage over everything, whilst not realising the consequences of it.

Oh come on.

Its not outrage, its astonishment that the chair of the FA is so out of touch with some really important things that the wider game, and society, are trying hard to address, displayed the very ingrained traits that are so wrong.

Its a massive sigh and face palm.

It's a faux par for sure, but surely an apology will do. Something like the Ron Atkinson incident deserved the outcome for the unintentional racism but crossing a line language. This seems like a witch hunt, although as @Tubey has said he has previous - but I don't know what he has said in the past. That might have an accumulative effect on the matter.

I think most of us, even trying to make sure we didn’t use a ‘wrong’ expression, would have made a similar mistake at some point. I’m glad to be retired......

But if you were still running some big organisation, with a range of genders and race as employees, I would like to think you would verse yourself in the correct ways to refer to them.

And I would also doubt you would suggest that any gay or lesbian employees had made a lifestyle choice.

Then sit in front of a Commons panel, and show that in fact, you hadnt done any of that.
