FA cup.......sorry...not arsed!

okay going along with the thing ghost was talking about how footballers don't have to work hard. undoubtedly hard work leads to better performances, if you work hard you improve your fitness which allows you to play better, so if all footballers work as little as ghost likes to make them seem, by now i'm sure one of them would get the idea to work harder, and watch himself catapult to world-class player because he's the only one that's working.

football games are demanding, players like AJ work immensely hard in those games, and the slightest degree of greater fitness shows 10fold on the pitch so rest assured they work hard both in and out of games. there's a reason so few teams win doubles and triples unless they have massive squads, players love glory just as much as we do its just not always possible to get there.

as for yesterday, the squad both played poorly considering it was oldham, and was immensely unlucky (from what i gathered from the radio broadcast). against alkmaar they probably saw a challenge, so they went for it more and took the game more seriously from early on. with any luck chelsea might underestimate this losing squad jus like we underestimated oldham, and we could surprise them :D

about all this bollocks about resting our good players for the carling cup, if i had to choose 1 of the games to win, i would have picked chelsea because i really want us to make it to wembley. that being said, resting yak lescott and howard doesn't by any measure guarantee victory at chelsea, the games against chelsea are going to be difficult either way, so basically all we did was sacrifice a game to slightly improve our odds of what still remains a longshot.

overall, i'm understandably gutted that we lost to a league 1 side, but hindsite is 20/20 and since i hadn't given it much thought at the time, i'm not sure i woulda made much different decisions than moyes. i'm jus really glad i'm not in his position right now.

Inertia read my thread properly, It was me who voiced an opinion if Moyes was not arsed, judging from the team selected, the tactics and substitutions.

If you can recall we are all entitled to our individual opinion.

Oh hands up who would rather be in the semi for the FA Cup than the Carling??

so players are rested, still have to travel all the way down to london, so that in itself is a minor hurdle that puts resting and relaxation in its place.

rob, fair enough, if your opinion is that moyes wasnt arsed, judging by tactics etc
I think that he was 'arsed' as it were, and as he has stated that team should have done better.

I welcome your opinion robert.

Oh hands up those that would rather be in the 4th round of the fa cup or semi final of the carling?!!

exactly, it was a none question.
I wasnt disputing the worthier competition its a no brainer!

but the facts are we are in a semi of one of them, its not as good as being in both, granted.

but like my initial post stated i still cant get that arsed about yesterday, and it is partly because my mind is on tuesday.

I think we could have gone as far as we've liked had we beaten Oldham. We just need our best players back and playing and we will beat anyone.

Howard

Neville - Yobo - Jagielka - Lescott

Arteta - Osman - Carsley - Pienaar

Cahill

Yakubu

I would back that team against anyone.
Problem is against Chelsea we will be without Arteta, Osman, Pienaar and potentially Yobo and Cahill.
Which means we are [Poor language removed].

dont you just adore the carling cup effort?

what a pay off, what majesty and respect.

wow

im so happy. the carling cup semis, [Poor language removed] it, the winners, lets count those chickens.

That answer is obvious, but even if we had won yesterday we would have been in the 4th round of the FA Cup with at least 3 matches to go until the Quaters, I mean if we'd have had replays with our squad as it is..
People say Moyes is not arsed but we have the biggest game of his career on Tuesday, the chance to get to the FINAL OF A CUP COMPETITION, which is obviously not that impressive because it's just the League Cup. Something we have never won, maybe due to the apathetic attitude of fans such as yourself. We had no midfield, we had no options, and Moyes probably did the best he could. Roughly the same team went and won away at Alkmaar 3-2. The players were rubbish and let him and the fans down. Dont be ridiculous and blame him.

uefa should be priority in the cup competitions now, its league championship first, second and third.

lets not tie too many blue bows to the carling cup, it is and always has been the least of all silverwear.

please, lets not become so blind as to think otherwise.

you miserable old curmudgeon!!

I think one of those adjectives is incorrect, Suits is not old.

As for the Carling Cup, it is like having to be satisfied with a hole in the ground at which one has to squat for a dump to make sure it goes in the hole.

However if we win it then it is better than nought only just though.
