FA Cup or 5th?

My only thought is it might be easier to convince everyone to stay if we were close again to CL football.

I think a lot of you are missing the point, not that I'm arguing against a cup win. Of course a trophy matters more. The question was how would it affect your perception of the season as a whole and where we are as a club. Wigan won a cup. So did Portsmouth. A lot of good that did them despite how it felt at the time.

I'm just admitting that I'd feel better about our prospects going forward if we'd shown more in the league, which is 9 months, rather than a good cup run.

Fair points mate, but, at the start of the season if you'd said to me which would be best for the club, fifth or a cup with a mid-table finish, I'd have taken a cup win. The club's more than the manager, the team, revenue and business plans, it's ultimately about the whole community, and a big part of that community is the fans.

Logic, financial considerations and what players might do next are the sensible way of looking at this, but emotions take over and, for me, it's ultimately about winning something.

If we get to the final, and win it then it might change the way you think (y)

Understandably, you're a bit different on this @johnnydawg68 because you're American...our major sports don't have these types of competitions so league place is the end game. Chill out, blues...it ain't his fault.

No I get the significance. Perhaps the question was a little too nuanced. I will be just as thrilled as everyone else.

It used to be all about a CL spot and the pots of money that go with it.

We now have the money anyway so winning is all that matters.

Alright then...rip in to him, blues.

Nah, it is different here though with league placing determining draft orders etc...I have this convo with fellow Yanks when they decide nobody else is watching and are safe from bro-harm if they're caught not talking NFL.
