BBC are doing everything they can to make it appeal to the younger audience, but also to the nostalgic one too.
Whilst I obviously was unhappy at the blatant bia BBC showed towards Millwall against us, you can't help but feel they dreamed of the "Cupset" because they want people to believe in the grandeur of the cup again. Time and time again, they'll talk about Ronnie Radford, or Mickey Thomas and they want people believing again.
But even on Football Focus, they'll getting kids on, interviewing them, making kids want their moment in the sun, if you will. On the website, they;re having soundbites, and things which will appeal to them.
Compare that to what ITV were like.
Personally, i believe the cup is still huge for 65 sides in the football league, with the 20 Prem sides, and then the upper Champ sides preferring the league.
That's not on Sky, that's on the league being more lucrative, being more broadcast, accessible.
I love the cup, and i'm sure if you asked Pompey, Cardiff, Millwall, Wigan who have all had moderate successful cup runs in recent seasons, they'd love it too!
