Dont forget we will need an easy as pos draw in next round,if/when we beat QPR as the derby is a few days later, sure it would mean if both us and liverpool got home draws that one of us would play the friday night and the other sat, unless the derby got moved to the wed-otherwise it means play the sunday/tuesday for one of us

See, people wonder where the F.A. Cup has gone wrong and it all starts with the draw.

You won your match on the Saturday and you sat on tenterhooks the rest of the weekend until Monday at 1.30 p.m. when people in schools. offices and factories all over the country huddled round transistor radios to listen as two arl blokes picked numbered balls from a black bag and called the name of the team out in a deadpan, emotionless voice.

The suspense built as each ball wasn't Everton's number and your heart leapt when we were the first name called out in a new pairing and we were at home.

It was pure theatre.

All this razzamatazz and footballers from the past cracking jokes as the teams come out totally ruins the drama that was the F.A. Cup draw.

And the world and his wife knows the number of thir team in the next round forty eight hours or more before they even have a chance to play and qualify for the actual draw.

Good point re Tuesday Derby (on BT Sport) - in the event of both sides winning through and being drawn at home there's a fair chance one might be televised (Friday?) and the other Saturday (televised or not). It's reasonable to assume that it would be a decent TV draw anyway - either a top 2 division opponent or a minnow with a giant killing opportunity. Could definitely see one playing on the Friday tho.
