I honestly find the shouts about race fixing pretty bizarre. Should they wanted to have fixed it, Hamilton would've been rightly penalised on lap 1.
What we've seen is a very high pressured situation (probably the most viewed GP in recent years?) with a big build up and an incompetent guy wanting to end the race with a race, as opposed to under a safety car. What then unfolded was a rushed un-thought out decision which benefitted Verstappen (who I still think did well to take Hamilton so early and arguably catch him unprepared).
If you look at it linearly then yeah - that decision is the reason why Hamilton lost, but bad decisions happen all the time and we've seen this time and time again this season. Overall for me Verstappen probably edged the season, but both could have been worthy winners, it's a shame it ended how it did, but I don't believe that should ever take away from the achievements.
I honestly believe it was a decision made by an under pressure guy, with the best intentions - executed horrendously. In all honesty if Mercedes dived into the pits for softs, and Verstappen stayed out, I still think it would've ended exactly how it did (i.e with a final lap of racing).
Those calling for a conspiracy just seem a little odd, there simply wasn't enough time to have orders from higher up etc, and no ones manufacturing Latifi's crash. For those saying it's like WWE, honestly grow up, its the equivalent of a poor referee getting a [Poor language removed] ton of pressure from all sides in the final minute of a cup final. People make mistakes.
Where do we go from here? We need a significant review of the rules. We need scenario based (black/white) rules for on and off track, we need penalties assigned to them as well, so we have consistency there too. We need to move away from any communication with stewards, and penalties after the race also. The inconsistency this season has been fairly staggering.
