I honestly find the shouts about race fixing pretty bizarre. Should they wanted to have fixed it, Hamilton would've been rightly penalised on lap 1.

What we've seen is a very high pressured situation (probably the most viewed GP in recent years?) with a big build up and an incompetent guy wanting to end the race with a race, as opposed to under a safety car. What then unfolded was a rushed un-thought out decision which benefitted Verstappen (who I still think did well to take Hamilton so early and arguably catch him unprepared).

If you look at it linearly then yeah - that decision is the reason why Hamilton lost, but bad decisions happen all the time and we've seen this time and time again this season. Overall for me Verstappen probably edged the season, but both could have been worthy winners, it's a shame it ended how it did, but I don't believe that should ever take away from the achievements.

I honestly believe it was a decision made by an under pressure guy, with the best intentions - executed horrendously. In all honesty if Mercedes dived into the pits for softs, and Verstappen stayed out, I still think it would've ended exactly how it did (i.e with a final lap of racing).

Those calling for a conspiracy just seem a little odd, there simply wasn't enough time to have orders from higher up etc, and no ones manufacturing Latifi's crash. For those saying it's like WWE, honestly grow up, its the equivalent of a poor referee getting a [Poor language removed] ton of pressure from all sides in the final minute of a cup final. People make mistakes.

Where do we go from here? We need a significant review of the rules. We need scenario based (black/white) rules for on and off track, we need penalties assigned to them as well, so we have consistency there too. We need to move away from any communication with stewards, and penalties after the race also. The inconsistency this season has been fairly staggering.

I agree with a a lot of that but I don't agree that it was people making mistakes.

Ignoring safety car procedure was a choice, not a mistake. Giving Verstappen a 10 second penalty for brake checking when its typically something that results in a DQ was a choice, not a mistake. All these choices were made with the sole intention of trying to keep the show as close as possible hence why some people feel its all been a bit rigged.

Give over! It's nothing to do with tin hats, the level of stewarding has been appalling, there for all to see. Max brake tested Lewis just the last race, something that is supposed to be a massive no no. You would think worthy of at least a stop and go? nah 10 seconds as any more and we wouldn't be coming into the last race all tied. Then Sunday's decision absolutely shocking, want a race red flag it and have a standing start with 5 laps to go. Max probably still wins that as on softs the RB was a better car and the fact he is willing to be the last of the late brakers, but it would have been relatively fair.

If there had only been two cars between Max and Lewis and they let them race the last lap then that might have also been fair, Max would have overtaken the two by the straights and would have probably been on Lewis' tail for the twisty section, that would have had some drama at least, it wasn't a race at the end because it never could be given the performance differential.
Are Max and Lewis close friends of yours?

Bit cringe not calling them Verstappen and Hamilton.

In all honesty, yes it was a thrilling end to the race/season, but I think Hamilton should have rescinded the lead after the first lap when he cut the corner avoiding Verstappen.
I disagree, agreed he did retake the lead but it was not by choice he was forced of the track by Max lunging down the inside and it is probably the 6th or 7th time this season that Hamilton has had to take evasive action. Horner keeps banging on that its hard racing, what he hasn't considered is that if Hamilton adopted the same racing style as Max then Bottas would have been World Champion as the other two would not have finished a race. Even in Silverstone Max had plenty of room to drive around the outside of Hamilton, instead he tried to force Hamilton to give up the inside line

No one in Mercedes position would concede track Position to put on new tyres. Imagine they had done so, and then the race finishes behind the SC as it should have. They lose the championship without even a chance to retake it on the track.

They should have discussed this scenario unfolding as it was always a possibility and agreed that pit lane would be closed in the event of a late SC. It’s utter bull crap that the SC rule so disadvantages the leading car, basically forcing them to either concede position or be left a sitting duck.

What a load of crap…. The rules were bent to give the advantage to verstappen…

Mercedes have pulled their appeal.
Reading into their message, I think there's been some very frank discussions behind the scenes regarding Mercedes's position, if the FIA didn't act.

It'll now be interesting to see what this root and branch analysis will actually produce and what the implications will be in the long-term.

Toto has already said that he isn't sure if Lewis will return to the sport; this may be rhetoric - I'll be surprised if it isn't - but Liberty will have a sense of concern.

They've sided with Max and Red Bull, so if there isn't clear and obvious objectivity in terms of the application of the rules then they may question their place.

Yeah exactly this.

The media also seem to just accept Horners view that, they both didn’t make the corner on certain incidents. Honestly how can reporters stand there and just go, I accept this answer.

Hamilton didn’t make the corner because of the lunatic in the red bull car!
