Its crazy mate they should wait untill the games are over. Should be skin and hair flying at city if Sven gets them in to Europe and then gets the sack!

I think if you set your stall out not to foul your docked positive play points, i know what your saying though, its a bit of a farce!

To be fair, getting into Europe for being the 5th best behaved team is just baffling, if I was a City fan I wouldn't be giving Sven the credit for it.

It shouldn't be allowed, maybe have a play off with 6th,7th,8th and 9th or something.

don't even let it bother you.
we will qual. come sunday and it'll be villa moaning about it, all this doubt is gonna create a tense day, get down there and celebrate how good this season has been, get behind the lads, show the ones who have been the targets of speculation just how much we think of them, scream yourself hoarse so you cant be heard by the missus till wednesday, be ready for the mexican wave, let the duurty jawdiz what we think of them. negativity feeds through to the players, for all we know they are on here with us lurking and looking what we say, i for one have heard a rumour that monty is in fact a certain australian attacking midfielder, so get on it and bellow your balls off.
we've got a game to play so lets play ball.
& ABOVE ALL
COME
ON
YOU
BLUES

If we dont qualify through fifth place we dont deserve to for F** sake we had it in our hands and personally I'm convinced we will keep fifth spot(y)

Apparently committing human rights violations does not get you disqualified from a UEFA fair play spot. I also heard that the fair play in the Africa cup is going to Sudan's FC Janjaweed Machetes

i'm mixed up about this, how does the fairplay table work? from the look of it, all the points are subjective, positive play in who's eyes exactly?

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/fairplay?league=eng.1&year=2007&cc=5901

that seems a bit more objective and it puts us at the very top, exactly who decides this.

it seems a bit absurd to award a european birth on the basis of something that is evaluated subjectively, unless they really do have concrete criteria to determine "respect towards opposition" etc.

also on the premier league site our lowest area for points is "behavior of officials", by officials do they mean our manager and staff? how has moyes been any worse than anyone else, was it the clattenburg comments?

bare in mind that table doesnt include the last game....

what i dont understand tho is that it appears to achieve the points total by adding scores from categories that surely should be opposites in terms or positive/negative. Why is the score for red/yellow cards added to the score for positive play/respect to players and officials etc? Surely it should be subtracted. Otherwise you are rewarding teams for getting booked and sent off, which is presumably the opposite of how this is meant to work!?!?

That's the biggest load of bollocks i have ever seen. The table from the premier league doesn't even seem to be right unless they're using some strange calculation for the yellow and red cards. It should be on bookings and red cards rather than some made up judgement that people probably haven't been paying attention to all year.

Didnt want to say it, during the week and tempt fate, but you have to be gutted to be a Villa fan, and see what looks like city getting into europe through this!

Just thinking it could be FULHAM as city had Dunne sent of today!

surely citeh will lose points for not trying today cos come on 8-1 by the scruffs, they threw it didn't they? they can't have played with any type of conviction, was it a protest in support of sven ?
or did "frank" have a big bet on in the far east ?

pretty sure it's Fulham's spot now as Man City got a red

Manchester City and Fulham will go head to head for a place in next season's UEFA Cup on Sunday, after Europe's governing body announced an extra spot in the competition will be awarded to the team top of England's Fair Play rankings.

With Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal already assured of European action, Manchester City (299.8 points), in fifth position in the Premier League Fair Play table, are in pole position to claim the lucrative berth.

Everton, next best, are likely to qualify directly as fifth-placed team in the Premier League, leaving Fulham (297.8) in seventh as Manchester City's competition.

The English FA were awarded an additional entry by virtue of topping the 2007/08 UEFA Fair Play rankings, where European associations are scored using a coefficient based on such factors as the behaviour of fans and players, respect shown to referees, and the number of red and yellow cards a team receives.

A red card means you lose 3 points. 297.8...296.8

I'm guessing its nice to be a Fulham fan today; they are staying up and now might even go to Europe.

Not too sure if i would like that route into Europe. Basically means that your team have been pulling out of tackles all season.... Or indeed your team is a bunch of whimps...

Don't think anyone would say that we have pulled out of tackles or played like a bunch of whimps. Rather the opposite most don't like to play us since we play hard and physical and they know it will hurt to face us. I read somewhere that Ljungberg said that he hated facing Everton since we play hard. But even though we have that tied to us we still are high on the fair-play list, shows that while we can play hard, we play fair.
